Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: May 17th through May 23rd

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (every Sunday morning). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

  1. Good morning, all! And to echo Portlaw–happy Memorial Day weekend! Lovely breakfast of almond croissants dusted with confectioner’s sugar, strawberries picked after tea yesterday from the strawberry patch out back, and cappucino.

Jan, the front page looks great! Love, love, love it!

My Dad served in the Army for years. His grave is in Tennessee, too far to travel on a weekend, but I’ll spend the day remembering him and my uncles. We usually watch the Memorial Day concert on PBS in the evening.

That’s great about Ireland. However, the day they pass a law declaring that women are HUMAN beings with full dignity and rights, and as such have the right to control their reproductive lives without interference, you’ll see me dancing a jig, baking soda bread, and crooning to the clover in my back yard. How about it, Irish voters? Clap your tiny pale hands if you think women are human!

‘Nuff said. Full day of chores ahead–laundry, weeding, planting the zucchini plant, shopping at Trader Joe’s. Hope all in Moosylvania will have a good day!

    • Good point, Diana. Women are still second class citizens, put there by the boys from Rome who still have Ireland lashed to their edicts. Our own rights here in America are endangered by the drip drip drip of the fundies passing regressive anti-choice laws in the states. We desperately need a 5th vote on the Supreme Court, like we had when Sandra Day O’Connor was there, to uphold a woman’s right to terminate a pregnancy.

      Have a great day!

  2. Good morning, 53 and cloudy in Bellingham today. Our oldest grand girl is marching in the annual Blossomtime Parade with her ballet school today, but I may be a fair weather Grammie and watch on TV. The clouds outside my window look very wet, and walking from the parking area to the parade route with an umbrella and a lawn chair seems rather daunting.

  3. Just got in from bar-b-que shopping – now to clean off the porch it’s too nippy to eat outside today – but tomorrow it will be 82 and I can grill stuff outdoors today and eat in comfort inside.

    Have a good weekend Meese!
