It Takes A Village: Evening Live Blog – 2/1

Evening Live Blog — A Place for All to Come Together and Discuss the Day’s Events!

The days and weeks ahead are going to be a nightmare. Trump is going to try to destroy so much of the hard work the Obama Administration accomplished. We can not be passive, we must stand up and Resist. Resist the Repeal of the Affordable Care Act, Resist the De-funding of Plan Parenthood, Resist everything they want to tear apart… RESIST!

If you are on this list and still not able to log in, let me know and we will get the Moose to reset your password.

A bunch of new people wandered in throughout the day on 2/1 and early this morning (2/2). They will be gathered up and added later this morning and a complete list will appear here shortly.

Washed ashore on 2/1 and 2/2, not added yet:

I am all caught up! Let me know if I missed anyone.

To log into a WordPress blog, you must have cookies enabled. You can get here by clicking My Moose from the menu. If you are already logged in, it takes you to your dashboard; if you are not logged in, you will see this:

The first time you log in, you must use the password the Moose gave you. After that, you can change your password in your Dashboard. See this FAQ: How to Log In.

Speaking of menus, here is where the Village posts will be linked so that they are easy to find.

There will be more information added about how to post and link.

Have fun!!

UPDATE: As promised, posting information.

The easiest way to create a new post is to clone it. If you work from the “It Takes A Village: TEMPLATE” post, you will have all of the set information to make sure it ends up in the correct category for your peeps to find it.

First, from your Dashboard, choose All Posts. You will see a list that shows the current posts. Click on Drafts to see only the Drafts.

If you click Clone, a new Draft will show up in the list cloned from that draft. Click Edit to edit the new post and modify it.

If you have a post that is NOT set up as a template but which you want to use a lot of the links or images from, you can clone it from inside the post. Click Edit and then choose “Copy to a new draft”. A new draft will be created and you will automatically be placed in it.

This image also shows some of the other parts of a post: adding Media (images), Previewing and Publishing.

I hope this is enough to get started!

  1. Morning family…Great to see everyone together where we won’t get stabbed in the back for honoring Hillary..
    Thank you Jan for doing this…
    WYgal…Eyes….

    • Morning, batch. It is nice to have some freedom. Hope you have a sunny day. We’ve got glorious rain. No complaints.

    • My man, good to hear from you, the Vagina Grabber In Chief, is going for the golden ring of a WWIII, pissing off friends and foes.

  2. Tried to say “hai” to all but system timed out. sigh. I think I have too many tabs up or something. Anyway, it is so wonderful to have the family together again in a truly safe (moderated) and friendly place. {{{Moose Village Peeps}}}

  3. look, dont exit the orange monster if you dont have to. It’s nothing wrong blogging on multiple fronts… I still shoot a comment at yahoo news from time to time (my first spot at posting anything)

    • Everything thing is Stupid Bowl Sunday, nice weather in ATL, all about the Grabber In Chief is like an episode of the twilight Zone.

    • sticking to both until I get kicked off…which might happen because I’m not going to temper my comments to suit the “purists”

  4. Thank you, JanF, for all the work you’ve done putting this new space together and adding all of us to MM! It’s so nice to have this friendly and welcoming place to gather.

  5. {{{{{JanF}}}}}} Thank you so much for doing this!

    Hi Village peeps! Just a quick check-in and Hi; have to get back to work but good to see you all here.

  6. Hi All, so happy to be here. Reese, I was devastated when I found out you were banned at kos. That is just awful

    • This will be interesting to watch, but without knowing more about her positions, it’s hard to gauge what’s going on. Is she a culture warrior who happens to be taking a principled stand because the PuppetPresident is just that awful? Or is she one of those rare “moderate” Republicans?

      • Not sure….. But I would rather consot the base FIRST before going gop fishing… she can switch parties and give us a hard time.

      • You do need one … you are only a “guest” right now! I will contact people still not getting in in the morning.

      • broths, I am going to use you as an example of how folks can tell if they are logged in and post something in a while. Watch for an update to the post.

  7. My Dashboard doesn’t seem to have “all posts.” Do I have to be an editor to see that? Can I become one? I want to do a post on David Cay Johnston’s new news venture:
    DCReport.org
    “A new kind of news operation for the Trump era

    Donald Trump and Congress plan to eliminate many of the rights and protections of Americans. They intend to further subsidize a few thousand millionaires and billionaires while gutting the services and benefits of hundreds of millions of ordinary citizens.

    David Cay Johnston wants to make sure you know what they’re doing to your government!

    The Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist has a plan to arm you, the average American, with the information you need about what your government is up to, what your fellow citizens think and — most importantly — what you can do about it.” There’s way more info

    • Moondanc, only Authors see All Posts! I must have missed your request to be “Author”ized. Everyone starts as a Subscriber and then those who want to write are changed to Author. Done!

  8. Hi, Moondanc! Are you and I the only ones here tonight?

    Got an email from Senator Warner’s “friends” asking for money. Huh! After he voted to confirm Tillerson? I am dismayed at the Dems! First old Elizabeth votes to confirm Ben Carson, then Warner pulls this trick. They’ll get money from me on a cold day in hell.

    Thinking about World War III and whether I need to make any preparations. Of course, we here in the DC metro area will be the first to be nuked, so it’s probably no good exchanging my mutual funds for gold Maple Leafs and laying in stocks of canned salmon and beans.

    It might be OK for the rest of the country to do that, though.

    • I think folks are wandering around between the various diaries – and maybe hitting SJohnson’s post at DK as well – kind of back and forth. I am anyway. And JanF is probably busily trying to find everyone who needs something done so she can do it. :)

      Basically, if there’s a nuclear WWIII I doubt preparations of any kind will be needed. If “just” a standard ground war, it’s seriously going to depend on who is on whose side. It’s always good to have a week or two’s worth of food in the house. There are lots of emergencies that aren’t wars. Community is the basic answer to just about everything. Working together as long as we live, we survive.

      Meanwhile, I’ve got 4 posts at DK and 2 here to check on. Back in a bit. {{{HUGS}}}

  9. Hi everybody! I found you! Yay!!! :) I’m trying to organize a NWGA Meetup. Philly, I know you’re in GA are you anywhere near Cartersville? I’m thinking that would be a good place to meet, about 1/2 out of ATL and close to other Dems nearby. What do you think? Anybody interested?

  10. Hi — I’d like to join this community but can’t figure out how. I think someone said I comment here and ask to join and fill in my info below, so I hope this will be the right kind of request.

    • Hi Tamar – yes, that’s correct. JanF is the site moderator (part-time so early morning then when she gets a chance) and she’ll get with you.

      • Hey, bfitz.

        I saw that you got your ignition fixed and the cost wasn’t too awful! Good deal. Hope you life is drama free for a while now :)

        I’m just skipping into DK to rec the diaries and your ‘helping’ posts. I like it much better here.

        • {{{inkaudlay}}} – i pick the car up after work and hopefully all will be as promised! i like drama-free life – one of the best things about “No Drama Obama” right? :)

          I love it here and am delighted to be able to stay here more now my Village is taking up residence. We just need to get a rotation for daily diaries going (rto is taking Thursday mornings) – hope someone will take tomorrow – and we’ll be set. moar {{{HUGS}}}

          • Yeah, I remember when we didn’t have to worry about our President creating mayhem every 10 minutes.

            A number of excellent diarists have landed here; I’m sure they’ll step up. (reese, WyGal, DoReMi, batch, MvGal, DianaInNova, and well, just about everybody else.)

    • Hey broths – we’re sort of back and forth still. Since we don’t have a 2/3 Morning Edition/Hangout up, most folks are commenting in the general welcoming week post. I’ve called for volunteers to get a post up daily for us and also say what would be the best posting time. So far rto is taking Thursday mornings but I haven’t heard back from anyone else yet. {{{HUGS}}}

  11. hi everyone,
    changed my handle a bit, but I’m still the same oldie but goodies. Glad to see some names that I haven’t seen in a long time.

  12. Joy Reid was on spot today with her show. London is protesting the VGIC visit. Thanks to the “so-call” Republican appointed Judge in Washington for no holds bar decision.

    • {{{Philly76}}} – i’m leaning towards referring to him as pvl45 (popular vote loser 45) – that’s the one thing that drives him nuts. He doesn’t care about all the other names – he’s proud of them in fact – but he hates and denies all over the place that he lost the popular vote. :)

      Ironic that we’re thankful for a W appointee, isn’t it? At least W had a nodding acquaintance with government.

      Are you planning to do a regular weekly post? We started trying to put together a schedule in DoReMI’s post yesterday. Once we have the dailies going again, we’ll know where to look for each other. heh. DoReMI has committed to doing one next Tuesday. MomentaryGrace is going to do Wednesdays regularly and rto has claimed Thursdays. Right now we’re planning on posting in the mornings like when we (Lysis and scan) started with HVN, then add more when/if the comment traffic gets big enough.

      JanF, bless her, is going to work on some updates to this platform to make things a little easier for us. (Like a way to find replies to our comments without having to scroll the whole post.) So the Moose as well as the Village by the Moose Pond are both going to get better all the time. :)

        • Starting simple is good. Once folks are more comfortable with it, the daily Resistance Hangout can have a Resistance Toolkit block (links to March information, congresscritter contact information, Indivisible, etc) as part of the template and then add whatever the writer wants to add. Of the several reasons I haven’t volunteered, the most important one is I’m not on twitter so don’t get the stuff that would be good to add.

          For right now I’m thinking a single, daily Hangout/Coffee bar with links to Resistance stuff that posts in the morning would be a good starting point. Once we’ve got the schedule, we’ll know when to look so we can gather together over the course of the day (and evening). If the Village agrees, that means 7 committed or more rotating writers to start with and go on from there.

        • Wonderful. I’ll go make that comment in the other posts. When’s a good time to post them? We’ve got folks from coast to coast so 6 am eastern is 2 am pacific. I’m in central time myself and on work days I don’t get online until 8 am or (or later if there’s a morning meeting) but I don’t know what time the east coast folks like to get here.

          • In another Post/thread rto said he’s scheduling his Thursday one to post 6 am central – so the east coasters will have it to themselves from 7 eastern until the rest of us get there. LOL. If that sounds good to you, go for it.

          • Couldn’t help but overhear your conversation, Bfitz and Philly. Thank you both!!

          • We’re getting organized – and once we are, it’ll be just like old times – except nicer since we won’t have to dodge “friendly fire” nor confine ourselves to the Village diaries to be safe. The entire Moose Pond is safe and there’s some great stuff here to read when you get a chance.
