Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: Mar. 12th through Mar. 18th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (every Sunday morning). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will now split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page and use the link.

  1. Good Saturday Meese
    Sitting here waiting for the breakfast buffet to open in my hotel. Need Moar coffee!

  2. I am digging the lazy Saturday thing. It’s not that I sleep all the way through, but I doze, and doze… Anyway, I need to get groceries, and should walk this afternoon. Meantime, I’m waiting for AM Joy. She was at the Irish event at Riverside Church yesterday — with the senator whose speech went viral (“American has elected a fascist…”) and tweeted out the Irish PM’s pwnage of T, and I hope she shows it on the show.

  3. The plan today for the site is to run an optimization on the WordPress database. I think that will happen around noon CDT so if you are on and get kicked off, that was me!! Years ago, when I managed another WordPress site, I had used a plug-in named DB-Manager. I can’t find my notes on it – I “tidied up” last fall and deleted a lot of old things that I thought I would never need. Sigh. I found another one that looks like the one I had used and tested it on my own web site and it did not blow anything up.

    I am going to put up the Fighting Back post after breakfast.

    • UPDATE:
      The maintenance work is done. The performance stats show a slight improvement but the kind that my experience suggests won’t be visible to the naked eye.

      Next week I will look into the caching options.

      Have a nice day!!!

        • I did! I finished a few things then walked away from my computer. Tonight I will early-post the check-in and take tomorrow off.

          One thing of note: I have not lost my login since the tech made the change yesterday, the one that gave us a grade of B instead of D on page loading. Fingers crossed that that solved that nagging problem.

  4. 46 climbing to 72 today and the sun is shining. Apparently SolarEdge is having server issues and that’s why my website isn’t updating. They hope to have it fixed by Monday and say I shouldn’t lose any data. I’m heading out to grocery shopping – later than usual because I need to go to the Market and the Winter Market opens at 9 (Summer Market opens at 7) – but will check back when I get back.

    The only thing I want to know about whatever Evil this Evil regime is doing is what I can do about it. Tell me who to boycott, who to write or call, who to donate to, and whether there’s a March or Protest some place I can get to. Otherwise, I know they are being Evil. I know people are going to – already have – died because of this Evil regime. I don’t want the details. I have enough trouble with nightmares as it is. And if I don’t have anything specific, then I will just continue Resisting by way of my community needs stuff (and trying to make sure there’s a Village hangout at DK – lost another writer, FreeBeer said yesterday was the last – for the 25 or so who are still there).

    Anyway, back when I can. Bright the day and wind to thy wings, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}
