It Takes A Village: VNV Wednesday Blinded By Science

Wednesday Get Over the Hump Free for All

Good morning, Village Meeses! We’ve made it to another Wednesday. It’s Day 90 of the Resistance.

I hope you aren’t tired of the March for Science, which is going to be world wide on Saturday, because it’s the most interesting thing coming up and I’m a sci-fi geek which means I’m a wannabe science geek with not much training and no credentials.

And since I actually don’t have much training or any credentials, expect… you guessed it… mostly tweets and cat memes.

Are you starting to see a trend here on most Wednesdays?

But first, WTFJH yesterday…

  1. Thank you, MG! I just spent entirely too much time throwing things at the 45* graphic in the game. I suspect that I was supposed to be throwing things at the tweets, but I found it very gratifying to aim at him instead! Now back to work; I’ll be back later.

    • Hee! I thought the game might be a good stress reliever. Glad it worked. ;)

  2. {{{MomentaryGrace}}} – thank you so much for doing double duty – your posts here are more detailed and more fun just because you can openly support Hillary and you don’t have to “pussyfoot” about not support jsfv. There’s a local March here Saturday but I just found out about it and need to move my schedule around to be able to do it. We’re also projected to be seriously rained on. We shall see.

    Got to get some work done. {{{Moose Villagers}}}

    • This week’s wasn’t hugely different but I abandoned substance for bright shinies. I figured we were due. ;)

Cool about the march! Umbrellas for SCIENCE! ;D

      • I don’t own an umbrella and the issue is more my shoes – they don’t take kindly to getting wet. :) But the real issue is my schedule – I’ll need to re-arrange some stuff to be able to make it. Where they’re starting from is kind of a problem, too. Not a whole lot of public parking around there and it’s a bit far to walk – not that I haven’t walked it before, but to do so I’d have to just plain ol’ throw my schedule out and start over. Being Saturday there are lots of places that are only open until noon and I need to go to several of those this week. sigh.

    • Morning, bfitz! It would be awesome if you could march (and not get soaked). It’s definitely therapeutic being among tRump haters and Hillary supporters.

  3. Good morning, Pond Dwellers and happy hump day to all. It’s a beautiful day (weather wise) to be alive. I don’t have a satellite March this weekend so am saving myself for the Climate Change March on the 29th. Thanks for doing double duty, MG. I always enjoy your wit and memes.

69 and sunny today. It’s getting closer to bike weather.

  4. Phew, finally cleared my desk…it’s been weeks since I’ve seen the top of it, and now I’m going to indulge and spend some time here. I was over at DK earlier and peeked into the diary about women being POd about the “unity” tour. I wonder if anyone in the Democratic Party is getting it yet? Women are furious, and they’re not responding in any meaningful way to our anger. They’d better get a clue soon, because as the DK diarist said, “You can’t have TRUE unity if anger is simmering below the surface. You can’t have true UNITY if you’re planting seeds of resentment with your base. What you end up with is nothing but an illusion.”

    • Hi DoReMI!

I don’t want to sound negative, but I’m not personally waiting for true unity. I don’t even think it is necessary, though it would certainly help speed things up. But I can’t think of any time when this country ever had that, there were dissenters even during the world wars.

The Berniecrats think we blindly follow the DNC and such, but that isn’t true. We’re the pragmatists, or so I believe. Unity if we can get it, but we won’t be waiting for some idealized candidate or party platform, we’ll get things done as we have before, with intelligence, compromise and hard work.

      • No disagreement here. I guess I skipped pass the UNITY and was more focused on the simmering anger and seeds of resentment. ;D I’m not sure what the actual purpose of this tour is supposed to be, and I lack the requisite interest and curiosity to find out. I genuinely like Tom Perez and was initially willing to give him the benefit of the doubt when he announced this tour. But this is beginning to look like a major miscalculation, because Bernie is being Bernie. He’s incapable of sustaining the role of team player for very long and inevitably reverts to his all-about-Bernie form. Perez is taking the boos while Bernie is receiving adulation, and unless I missed it, Bernie (as usual) is not shutting down the boos. If Perez doesn’t learn something from that, I’m not convinced that angry, but anonymous, women on Twitter are going to change his mind either. At this point, I have more faith in groups like Indivisible than I do the Democratic Party.

    • I dropped a couple of comments in there. A couple of other stories not praising st Bernie are there now. The primary wars were pretty much over until this tone deaf tour. I put this stupidity on Perez, seeing all these headlines about bernie dissing the party has really pissed people off. They are flipping the bird to the Hillary supporters and this has to be entertaining the trumpers

      • I believe some of that blame should be on Senator Schumer for making him the Voter Outreach chair. That’s where it started.

        • Yeah, anybody who thought they could control Bernie or use his appeal to strengthen the party wasn’t paying attention. The folks who love Bernie, only love him when he’s trashing the Dems. He can’t bring them to us – even if he wanted to – they turn on him when he says anything nice about us.

    • What continues to frost me is the Bernie idiots calling themselves and themselves alone the base. And the only progressives.
WOMEN ARE THE BASE. Other folks too, but try running a campaign without us, and you’ll be scraping the bottom of the barrel pretty damn fast.

  5. Thanks MomentaryGrace for this nourishing Purrsistance diary!!!!

Though I wonder if the cross-eyed bear might make an appearance in a future installment :)

  6. Sunny day in Chicago metro, hi guys!

Doing a quick check in, see how you’re doing! Interesting week huh?

    • Oh hai RTO! Very interesting! Chaffetz, ORLY, and Bernie’s halo slips….

  7. sorry to have missed you yesterday Momentary Grace, but there are days when it truly is better if I’ll just keep my thoughts to myself.
