Greetings, Village Meese. It’s Day 139 of the Resistance and time for another Get Over the Hump post and discussion thread. Today’s theme is…. Soon™

What does Soon™ mean? Does it mean we can soon expect 45 to be impeached by a recalcitrant Republican-controlled Congress?

Unlikely.

Does it mean we can soon expect Comey to drop some kind of bombshell in his testimony before the Senate on Thursday?

Not necessarily (though it would be really cool).

Does it mean unicorns and rainbows will soon fly out of my posterior and dance a joyous dance of celebration?

No. Unfortunately…. no.

However Soon™ does have a special meaning. It means, specifically, to Donald J. Trump, poor Voldemort impersonator, you will never prosper. It means #TheResistance will never tire of calling you out, working for your downfall, protesting, supporting each other, supporting all Americans of good conscience and all friends and allies around the world.

It means We Are Coming For You.

It means our number includes Democrats, Independents, People of Color, Women, Men, all sexual orientations, all walks of life. We will never stop.

Soon™ also means, GOP, enjoy yourselves while you can, because the more you do, the faster your downfall will come. You are now exposed before the world and before anyone who is not brainwashed by your propaganda. And that brainwashing is not infallible. It may be only a few here and there, or it may be millions.

Soon™ means time is against you. Upcoming generations see through your greed. Your values are not their values. And you will lose.

Here we go!

And one last thing…

In view of the exciting tweets this morning featuring Eric Trump lashing out at Democrats and saying we aren’t even people, and on the heels of a very (VERY) mild run in I had yesterday on DK, I am going to put on my Auntie Grace bloomers and shove this advice out there:

Don’t become what you hate.

There’s a lot of outrage this morning about Eric Trump’s remarks “dehumanizing” Democrats and so forth. They do.

However a lot of folks in The Resistance, me included, regularly dehumanize Donald Trump, his allies, and various members of the GOP.

It’s a stress reliever. It makes us feel better. We indulge because many of us are still in pain, we do it because a lot of us are scared, and it’s an inexpensive salve.

I’m not going to tell anyone not to do it, or promise I never will.

What I am going to do is say, be mindful.

Recognize and realize.

Never forget that our nemesis is (are) human, however despicable, however worthy of censure.

Okay, enough of that. Bloomers off. (Whoo hoo!)

  1. {{{MomentaryGrace}}} – thanks for the double duty – and for the addendum you can’t safely put at DK (as sad as that is). Time is relative – but I’ll take “soon” as a target for clearing the Haters out of power. The tide does eventually – and inevitably – turn and the Hate that washed in with this tide will either be washed out again or be stranded on the beach to wither and die (or be eaten and transformed into something useful).

    Soloing today, serious messes at work to clean up today – and probably going to delete everything I wrote last night for today’s Street Prophets Healing Humpday diary and replace it with just “kossacks in Need – Please help” at the top of my lists. Probably won’t make any difference – but while 1% of the DK membership contributing $5 ea would not only clear the lists, it would have extra for getting those folks far enough away from the edge they won’t come back, 1% of the DK membership isn’t going to step up. The $70k needed to clear the list is way too heavy a load for me, the Villages, and the PWB Peeps to bear by ourselves. But I’ll keep putting The Word out (which if nothing else tells those in need that they aren’t forgotten and people do care) and we’ll keep whittling away at it.

    • I, too said last night in squirrel that it’s salvo for their base and distraction from the upcoming testimonies. Nothing more. Nothing less. It isn’t going to make me get my panties in a bunch. Or, as we used to say in grade school when somebody insulted us, “I know you are, but what am I?”

  3. Good morning, meese. Thanks for the double duty today, Gracie. I wonder if the new nominee to run the FBI will be approved or will even the republicans see way too many conflicts of interest?

    Dropping down to 82 today, which is nice. Dental appointment this afternoon so I must get things done that I can’t put off until after lunch.

    PhoenixWoman contacted me on Twitter and and asked that I help get the word out about the need for calls on AHCA, especially to R senators. Our chances of saving the ACA are looking grim, so making calls/sending faxes/emails is more critical than ever. Remind your senator that saving pre-existing condition coverage is meaningless if EHBs are eliminated or allowed to be waived by states. Cutting back Medicaid in any way hurts all Americans and is short-sighted at best and cruel at worst. Improving (and not allowing the ongoing sabotage of) the ACA is the path that helps people the most, and that is what our elected representatives are supposed to be doing…not just providing more tax cuts for those who don’t need it. Whatever talking point works for you…but we need those calls to be flooding into our senators! /steps off soapbox
