It Takes A Village – VNV Tuesday: Today We Remember The Resistance (1776) 7/4/17

Congress Voting Independence

“May the foundation of our new constitution, be justice, Truth and Righteousness. Like the wise Mans house may it be founded upon those Rocks and then neither storms or tempests will overthrow it.” — Letter from Abigail Adams to John Adams, July 13, 1776

“Do you recollect the pensive and awful silence which pervaded the house when we were called up, one after another, to the table of the President of Congress to subscribe what was believed by many at that time to be our own death warrants?” — Benjamin Rush

“I have said that the Declaration of Independence is the ring-bolt to the chain of your nation’s destiny; so, indeed, I regard it. The principles contained in that instrument are saving principles. Stand by those principles, be true to them on all occasions, in all places, against all foes, and at whatever cost.” — Frederick Douglass

“Let the annual return of this day forever refresh our recollections of these rights, and an undiminished devotion to them.” — Thomas Jefferson

    {{{DoReMI}}} – always grateful that you do the double duty. Sometimes it’s just a pleasant place to visit – but many times it’s the place we can ponder things they aren’t inclined to at Squirrel and say things that would get us in trouble at DK. moar {{{HUGS}}} and Healing Energy and moar thanks. bf

      You are right bfitzinAR about the different places…I try to stop in all of them even when I don’t comment because of just that reason…I admit I do spend most of my time at the Squirrel just because there is normally more action going on…Thanks DoReMI for the post on a very interesting and timely subject…well off to the DK to rec and tip…

        {{{shenagig}}} – Squirrel is where you can express rage. Moose is where you can express pain. DK is where more information can be found (and still the largest number of our Villagers) – but we always have to remember that we’re being watched. All three Villages are community.

          That’s why I don’t stop in often at the DK village anymore; I feel like it automatically makes me suspect. But I should be getting my new laptop later this week, which will make it easier to visit h here in the evenings. I miss having the group all together in one place, though.

            For real – the Moose seems to be more of a morning place though. DK and Squirrel are where the evening activity goes on. I think you’ve got enough “cred” at DK to visit over there if evenings are your time. Yes, there are always the lurkers watching for some excuse to jump us – but they’ve found fewer and fewer so really don’t show up much. I do hope you have time to visit – and if we know you’ll be here, we’ll be sure to come by as well.

    Good morning, Pond Dwellers and thanks, DoReMi for pulling another double. It’s my hope (and I will work like hell to make it possible) that the Orange Shitgibbon will be unavailable for this job next year and will have been forced aside by either his mental or physical health. We already know the mental part is shot and he hasn’t been looking physically well, either. I prefer to get rid of the top two, but only the special counsel will be able to do that. Patience is asked for. I will try hard to comply.

    95 for our high today. Nothing says sit on your butt like those kinds of temps. Thankfully, it’s 62 right now so will ty to get some sort of walk done. Happy Independence Day, my friends.

    Good morning meese…Thanks as always Sher…13 colonies w/men that had a dream and are now rolling over in their graves at what Dump and the Cons are attempting to do to our country.

    Happy 4th to everyone!

      {{{Batch}}} – oh, I don’t know. There were some compromises in the Declaration to get the vote of people who believed exactly what the Rs are peddling. But the liberal intent was strong enough to be mostly good – and a starting point. We always need a starting place. We have one and have traveled far from it. We need to, and will, travel further – once we’ve pushed the Haters back under their slimy rocks. moar {{{HUGS}}}

    Good afternoon! Hope everyone’s having a good 4th. We’re going to the movies in a bit to finally see Wonder Woman, then it’ll be back to work tomorrow for me. Ah well, at least it’ll be a short week.
