It Takes A Village: VNV Wednesday – Harvey

Wednesday Get Over the Hump Free for All

Greetings, Village Meese. It’s Day 223 of the Resistance and time for another Get Over the Hump post and discussion thread.

Due to circumstances, today’s post is going to be a shell of its former self, but please enjoy your morning beverage, chat with your friends, discuss politics if it suits you, and keep the survivors of Hurricane Harvey in your thoughts.

WTFJH Yesterday – Day 222: Concealed.

FWIW, I personally am not interested in any negativity about Joel Osteen, Melania Trump’s shoes, why evacuation orders for Houston weren’t issued, or anything else. But that’s just me.

That’s it for me, enjoy some beverage, chat with your friends and fellow Resistors and just take a moment to enjoy some part of your day.

Thank you for your patience. Love and peace, Village! Enjoy your Wednesday gathering.

  1. Good morning, Meese. (Btw, you copied Meese over to the Orange) and thanks, Grace for providing us with another delightful post. Is it true that the rain has stopped (referencing the rainbow tweet)? I admit to not watching any news programs so I can avoid the politics, so I don’t know if Harvey is finally hitting the road. He’s stayed way too long at the party, for sure.

As is par for the past 6 days, going to be a hot one. Although, only 100. So, more reading. More coffee. More hoping the week continues to improve for you and Texas.

  2. Good morning, all; thanks MG…especially for Droopy (or maybe not; I’m having an “I need another [Basset] baby moment.) I got nothin’ this morning. I spent most of last night in my sewing room, so yay, progress, but it leaves me with very little to say. I mailed Round Two of the mock-up jackets to the bridesmaids in OR this morning, so with a little luck, I’ll be able to spend Labor Day sewing, with all the fit corrections in hand. It would be nice to finally finish at least one of the projects for my daughter’s wedding, but at this point, I’m planning on taking my sewing machine along when I go down three days before the wedding.

In other “news,” I’ve been noticing an uptick in self-examination amongst my FB friends w/r/t privilege and white supremacy. Most of these folks are Bernie fans, who are generally only marginally politically-active, and they would not listen during the primaries or even the general if anyone commented on his inability to connect with communities of color. I guess it takes the images of real Nazis marching in the streets to shake them up a bit. It would have been easier to just elect HRC (although to be fair, I think most did end up voting for her; if they didn’t, they’re not admitting it publicly), but progress is progress.

  3. Afternoon meese…Hi Gracie…Glad to hear that you, Vonster and Wufei are alright…Thank you for the thread today…I know you’ve got other things to be worrying about…I can imagine what Port Arthur is going through…Used to live there…

We finally got to see the sun today after a week of constant rain and I’ve been through many hurricanes so have some idea what you’ve been through but the flooding we’ve all seen is beyond terrible and the clean up is going to take quite a long time to fix.

Here’s hoping the shitgibbon is gone quickly so the feds can aid in the cleanup…
