It Takes A Village: VNV Wednesday – The Letter

The Village News & Views November 8, 2017
Wednesday Get Over the Hump Free for All

Greetings, Village. It’s Day 293 of the Resistance and time for your final Get Over the Hump post and discussion thread.

I usually include a link to WhatTheFuckJustHappenedToday.com. I think after all this time you can find it for yourselves now.

As for what the fuck just happened on Monday, November 6th, something bad. Something unconscionable. Something evil. If every act of kindness is an act of #Resistance, then every act of cruelty helps the Republican agenda.

Unfortunately my MIL is still in the hospital in ICU and I have run out of time, energy and positive intent to meet all my obligations, so I am surrendering my Wednesday posting slot to whomever may wish to pick it up. If I may, I will support the community as best I can with recs and the occasional comment but for now that will likely be in thought and spirit rather than in text and pixels.

I haven’t come empty handed though. These are lyrics to a song I wrote in 1991, when I was one third of an all female rock band. Perhaps there will be something somewhere in it for you.

Cat and other memes will, of course, precede, and follow.

The Letter

This is a letter
To all of my friends
The lost souls, the lonely
The ones near the end
If you know better
Don’t give up your youth
Fear if you must, only
Don’t be afraid of the truth

Feel the world turning
Away from your feet
Nobody heard you
And you can’t repeat
There is a yearning
That hides in your heart
Cry if it hurts you
But don’t let it tear you apart

Time doesn’t heal all but
Yes it can teach
Try to keep learning, it
Lengthens your reach
Give up your need for what
Keeps you aloof
Open yourself to it
Don’t be afraid of the truth

Feel the world turning
Away from your feet
Nobody heard you
And you can’t repeat
There is a yearning
That hides in your heart
Cry if it hurts you
But don’t let it tear you apart

Close of my letter
I leave you at last
Pray for tomorrow
Don’t grieve for the past
Now you know better
Don’t worship your youth
Give up your sorrow and
Don’t be afraid of the truth

That’s it for me, enjoy some beverage, chat with your friends and fellow Resistors and just take a moment to enjoy some part of your day.

Thank you for your patience. Love and peace, Village! Enjoy your Wednesday gathering.

We will always be #StrongerTogether, and we are together, no matter if we wander apart.

We are #TheResistance. #WePersist.

PS the DK version today is much longer, so go take a look if you feel up to it. I was doing stream of consciousness with cat memes and tweets.

Love to Moose Pond!

  1. Thanks, Momentary! Sorry to hear about your MIL. Hope she fares well. Modern medicine is pretty advanced, so let’s hope for the best.

    The lyrics of “The Letter” seem highly appropriate to the state of the world this morning, thank you. Remember how we all raced to the polls, proud to vote for the first woman candidate from a major party in U.S. history, and then watched with horror as…nah, not going there.

    It’s a gray day here in NoVa. The dog walker will be here any minute now, so I’ve got to get dressed. Wishing a good day to all Village people!

    • Hi Diana in NoVa! Thanks for the words.

      MIL is hanging in there, just went into the hospital three weeks ago expecting to get a heart valve replacement, surgery was scrapped because she wasn’t healthy enough for it and she’s still there, so the unexpectedness has been kicking her family’s ass. I’ve known this woman for forty years and we have had our ups and downs, never were close, but she is a tough lady and for her family and my wife’s sake, I am putting all the positive energy I have into requesting the best outcome possible from the Powers.

      I’m done with regular posts on DK, but if no one fills my slot here you may see a post on Wednesday from me now and then. :)

      • Please post here! I would miss the cats if you stopped!!

        I have quite a collection of LOLpics that I have not yet uploaded from archive folders built from my now-defunct Photobucket account (curse you, greedy Photobucket!!!) ; I will plan to set aside time on Wednesdays to share them in this space.

        p.s. Civil Disobedience Cat is a personal favorite.

        • Thanks JanF! I’m glad you’ve enjoy my silliness. :) I may continue Wednesday posting here, but feel free to jump in with your LOLpics!

          Civil Disobedience Cat will always shine a light and show an example for all of us. :)

  2. Good morning, Pond Dwellers, and thanks, MomentaryGrace, for a unique piece here. You will surely be missed and doubt that anybody will pick up your slot. Please do keep us updated on your MIL’s condition. It reminds me of my daughter’s FIL. In and out of the hospital and still no answers for him yet. Hopefully things will work out for your family and we see you from time to time.

    Last night was a delightful surprise. Democrats showed up big time and we kicked ass. We even elected the first black female mayor in a town in Montana (I think it was Missoula). Knock me over with a feather. If we do this at midterms…we’ve got the house and maybe the senate.

    Time for that sweet nectar called coffee.

    • I will keep in touch here for sure, Wednesday posting as I am able.

      Last night’s Dem Victories were a joy and a relief. ^_^v

    • Morning, bfitz. I hope you’re doing as well as can be expected. Thanks for exchanging emails with me. I am determined to take you to Wyoming. Count on it. {{{HUGS}}}

      • {{{WYgalinCali}}} – you are always welcome. And yes, as well as can be expected. When the right combination of money, health, and cat-sitters come together we will do it. :) Part of the problem is I can’t fly. Inner ear stuff. So it’s drive or take the bus (or drive or take the bus to where I can take a train). And part of it is I really need to see how well I live on Social Security. moar {{{HUGS}}}

      • {{{basket}}} well it’s afternoon now, but I hope yours is a good one. moar {{{HUGS}}}

    • {{{Fitz}}} Good morning beautiful lady…I hope you are feeling OK…Last night was stupendous, with some real shockers mixed in showing we Dems still got it…moar {{{Hugs}}}

      • {{{Batch}}} it’s afternoon now and i’m doing as well as can be expected. rto kept saying “stay angry” and I kept saying “channel the anger” – last night shows what happens when Dems stay woke, stay angry, and channel it into GOTV. W00T!! moar {{{HUGS}}}

      I am so very glad and grateful to you for bringing us (those who would) to Moose Pond, and so glad that we will be able to snuggle over here.

      Our Village folks at DK are still awesome but DK itself is deeply poisoned. If I ever find out who came for you… well it wouldn’t be a good thing. Cat memes can bite, too.

      I know you are swamped with work, as am I, but I will seek your voice here. I need my bfitz fix.

      • {{{{{momentarygrace}}}}} – I am so glad you came. The moose pond and village is the best place to snuggle and support each other and work out issues – and figure out how to go forward. Squirrel is angry – that’s energy and it can be channeled to do much good, but I can only handle so much anger before I need a calmer space. DK has the platform and I’ll be sorry if I’ve lost it permanently. DK also has my Pootie Peeps family and my Aji Team family and I am next best to devastated about losing them. That’s out of my hands. But the moose pond is calm and healing. It soothes the explosive unproductive anger and helps channel the productive anger. I bless JanF for maintaining it – and for having invited me to join years ago.

        I’m so glad you will drop by. I don’t want to lose your voice either. love and moar {{{HUGS}}} and always Healing Energy.

        • Wrapping you in love as best we can!

          Part of me still hopes the DK mods will see the obvious error of their ways and bring you back there, but for your sake, so you can be with PWB Peeps, Street Prophets and those who love you there.

          Moose Pond is a wonderful oasis. I will always consider it one of my online homes.

          See you soon! {{{{{{{{{{{bfitz}}}}}}}}}}

  3. Morning Gracie and meese…Thank you Gracie…Good seeing you get a kick out of my tweet this morning…I have my moments…

    Thoughts and healing energy for your MIL…Hope things get better for her and the family…

    I hope you can still do some threads because I’d miss them and you!

    • {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{BatchNoMas}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} ;)

      It will be easier to drop a Wednesday post here than doing the double duty. I still love our Village peeps at DK but I’m disgusted at the continuation of whomever’s vendetta – RTO, you, others, now bfitzinAR, the sweetest and strongest and most wise and positive force in our Village.

      I need to get over my bitterness. It was time for a break.

      Nice that the Dem victories are giving me a positive note to bow out on.

      And I’ll see you here and on twitter, never fear.

  4. Hi everyone. I’m going to miss these great cat pictures. Maybe someday I’ll figure out how to post some of them.
    Bfitz, miss you and hope all is well. They’re destroying the village one by one but they’re the real losers. Gotta stop now I got a pneumonia shot today and arm is not happy!

    • {{{kathy in pa}}} – Healing Energy to you. They’ve been taking out the diarists. And yes, their loss. We have been bringing the kind of information to DK that is needed to fight the Rs as well as a space to hang out and support each other. We will just have to find another way. moar {{{HUGS}}}

    • {{{{{{{{kathy from pa}}}}}}}}

      There will still be random cat memes and gifs when I can manage it. ;)

      The evil in tirelessly working to dismantle a positive, nurturing community like the Village is inexcusable.
