Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: Nov. 19th through Nov. 25th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (every Sunday morning). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will now split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page and use the link.

  1. Saturday and it is 33 degrees here in Saugerties NY.

Am lazing around this morning – then have papers to grade,

I posted this in Black Kos yesterday – wish someone could identify this woman – se we can give her a collective hug – she sounds like she is either from Brooklyn or New Jersey

Loved this Time Mag response to Trump too

    • One of the Time editors posted a more accurate assessment when he called the shitgibbon’s tweet “BS”. There were a lot of people hoping that Time names Robert Mueller III as a direct poke in the eye. I don’t hope for that; while it might be fun for a news cycle, it would probably lead directly to his firing and that would not be good in the long run. People who are saying that “if he fires Mueller, that will be the bright line that Congress won’t let him cross” are wrong – there are no lines he won’t be allowed to cross. None, zero, zilch, nada.

      • The people who are saying that about what would happen if mad king donald fires Mueller are the same people who said that if mad king donald were elected it would usher in the Revolution. They said pretty much the same thing (about ushering in the Revolution) in 2000 about W being elected and we saw how that turned out. Rule of Law and Resistance are what will get us out of this sooner I hope than later – the Evil Ones do not acknowledge lines for their own – only for Dems.

  2. Good morning, Moosekind, on this frosty Saturday. Had a great treat when I woke a little past 7 this morning—when I looked out, the sky over the backyard was filled with ragged clouds that looked as if they’d been dipped in red-gold, stretching across a dim blue sky. It was lovely. Then, Dearly Beloved, going out to get the paper and let Monty do a little business, spotted a fox staring at him in the road outside our driveway. Our subdivision isn’t named “Fox Mill” for nothing!

It’s 29 F. in NoVa now, going up to 61 F. later. As it’s Vegetarian Night, we’ll have Chinese Mandarin Surprise for dinner. No big plans today except, of course, cleaning out the garage. Would like a break from politics this weekend, but still horrified by the massacre at the Sufi mosque in the Sinai yesterday. How does it help anything to murder 235 members of the Faithful? Why is it always men that do this?

Glad I’m not a male religious fanatic, that’s all I can say.

  3. Got in a walk yesterday — 2.2 miles. Today: walk, gym & visit my friend. Right now, I’m waiting for Joy Reid’s show. Have loved sleeping in, even if it wasn’t continuous.

  4. and Joy Reid wins the internet

  5. Weather widget isn’t working but probably about 50 at dawn – overcast all night so the temps never really dropped – and pretty much the same now although the sun is shining. Not supposed to reach 60 today as a front moved in last night. I actually got a 2-mile walk in yesterday. We’ll see if I manage another today. Got 7.5 KWHs again yesterday and the m-t-d is 139.8 at the moment. Reaching 150 is getting more and more likely and reaching 180 is moving into the possible range.

    mad king donald, like some other people I know, do not believe rules were made for them. It’s always a bad idea to give power to those kinds of people. status unchanged at teh other place – but I did just hear back from someone who’d been on my needs list until about a month ago – she’s clear of the issues that put her on the list and that’s making enough difference to call it good. And that is a mood-lifter right there. Meanwhile I need to deal with some stuff around the house – got 3 different batches of soup to make and stuff like that. I’ll check back this evening to catch anybody I’ve missed. :) Bright the day Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}

  6. 53 and cloudy in Bellingham today. Our family Thanksgiving officially over……the left overs are distributed, the family is all home or on their way, and RonK and I are smiling but weary. We’ve got the house tidy enough to just rest and relax for the remainder of the day.

My blood pressure still isn’t stable but bouncing between too low and just high is progress. Moving between too high and way to high was scary!

I’m going to start reading a new book today so my dilemma is choosing between the new Brandon Sanderson book, Oathbringer or Glass Houses, the next book in Louise Penny’s mystery series. So nice to have choices and time to enjoy them!
