Morning meese!

What we are going through with this supposed government is so far beyond the pale it’s hard to discern up from down and down from up. You all know I’m 65 and in all my years I’ve seen nothing that comes close to what is happening now. Yes there was acrimony and a bunch of discourse in Congress that started back in the 80’s and really started when Carter was president. Not even when Nixon was president was it this bad in Congress. The difference now is that we don’t have a president willing to work with both sides to get anything done and we don’t have enough congressman willing to work together. The Republican party has been getting progressively worse since the 90’s and what we are seeing now is the culmination with their indifference for the citizens of the country. They are being aided by the “xtian fundies” and their far right theology they want us to bow down to their bullshit. All of this would not be happening if we had a president with common sense and any compassion at all for his fellow humans. But no, the foolish asshole white’s,and some POC in this country, that have the brains of a slug, elected a completely boorish, vile and non caring cretin as president. We know about the Russian collusion and the totally worthless unicorn sucking jackass but when it comes right down to it the people had a choice. More so I believe the last 30 years of demonizing Hillary by the right did more damage to Hillary’s chances becasue the right stepped up, and aided by the unicorn brigade, their rhetoric they’ve been chanting for 30 years and got idiots to believe in it.

I’ve been neglecting a lot of things lately becasue I’m exhausted and depressed. I’ve got problems here at home that I see no end to care of my lazy ass son and my DIL and have no answers to make my life any better. So I am going to take care of me for a little while which means, I’m sad to say, you won’t be seeing as much of me.

I’ll still do the TGIF thread every week and will pop in now and then.

Love each and every one of you all…You’ve kept me sane for the last 18 months…

  1. Hey, Batch, you are a good guy who has always brought a smile to my face because our opinions are so similar.

Very sorry to hear you’re going through personal hell right now and wish there were something I could do to help. You’ll be sadly missed but we will hope to see you from time to time. You said:

I’m older than you—73—and I haven’t seen anything like it either. I’m almost at the end of my sojourn on this plane of existence, so it’s okay for me. But I FEAR for my children and grandchildren! Automation will take their jobs. I hope they will be able to invent their own niche businesses.

Hugs and blessings to you, my friend.

  2. Good morning, Pond Dwellers and thanks, Batch, for your thoughts. Sometimes you have to take a step back before you can take two steps forward. We’ve all been there. You’re not much help to the Resistance if you don’t take care of yourself. I get it. That’s why my helper series started. I’d spend more time looking for the good and less on dwelling on the bad.

Good news is Michael Flynn is pleading guilty to lying to the FBI today. I’d say it’s safe to say he’s flipped. (Now you don’t have to go into twitter…I told you). Now coffee and 🍊

  3. {{{Batch}}} – take care of yourself. If that means cut your losses and move to CO to be near your daughter and grandbaby, so be it. (And if not, also so be it.) You cannot continually take care of others without taking care of yourself. Like helping the drowning person – if you aren’t rock-solid anchored somehow before you reach out to them, they’ll drown you both. So whatever it takes to take care of you, do it.

I’ve got a year on you and I also have never seen anything like this. But I saw it coming. I don’t like it but the shadows of the future I saw in the Reagan years were not changed so here we are. And the issue is the one never addressed and basically can’t be addressed publicly – the RW-fascisti media consortium that owns 90% of the media and influences the rest. The media is now the propaganda arm just like the Rs are the political arm of a long-planned takeover of our government. The takeover is quite apparent but nobody seems to be dealing with the who is taking over. I say seems to be because if anybody is aware and dealing with it they have to be doing it in secrecy simply because the propaganda arm would shut them down in very short order if the fascisti become aware of it. But I have a lot of faith in the intelligence and will-to-good of Hillary, Bill, and Barack (politically speaking – and a bunch of others who are not officially political) so I have a lot of faith that they are aware and they are working on how to deal with this when the fascisti hold all the cards. So – Resist, block, push back – and take back Congress. That’s our part – to keep the Evil from becoming permanently (or at least multi-generationally) entrenched. And hold to our Faith that what needs to be done is being planned in secret just as the Normandy Landing was. And will be as successful.

Gotta get back to work. moar {{{HUGS}}} and lots and lots of Healing Energy

  4. Batch, just adding my voice to the chorus which is saying “take care of yourself first and foremost.” The best analogy I’ve heard is the one that points to airline emergency instructions: if the yellow, dangly air masks drop down, put one on your face first, and then take care of others.

And I also add my voice to bfitz’s re cutting your losses. Part of my job is working with seniors who are often in dire financial straits for no other reason than they answer their childrens’ pleas for financial help when they really can’t afford to do so. I see their income; I see their bills; and I hear their stories about why little Johnny or Suzie (who are generally in their 40s) needs help…while Mom is living on beans and past due on her heating bill. The hardest part of my job is helping these folks construct budgets that don’t include payouts to their kids and then keeping them on it. I’m not saying any of this is applicable to you, of course; I have no way of knowing and wouldn’t presume to ask. But what I do know from watching this play out over the long-term is that the people who put themselves first (and it is soooo difficult) end up being the happiest, the most secure (even on very limited budgets), and eventually, the most generous givers when it is no longer coerced. steps off soapbox

    • 👏👏👏To you and bfitz. You can’t help others if you don’t first help yourself. Roll back your participation a bit…get outside and away from the house. {{{HUGS}}} and lots of healing energy for all of us.
