HNV Tuesday – Random Acts of Truth-Telling (or Not) 2/27/18

The Mouth of Truth in Rome; legend has it that if one were to stick their hand inside the disc’s mouth and tell a lie, one’s hand would be bitten off.

These kids these days…(Per Ron Chernow, Hamilton’s year of birth is uncertain; he may have been as young as 19 in 1776.)

Definition obfuscate: to be evasive, unclear, or confusing

“More listening”…always a good idea.

When somebody shows you who they are, believe them. (Or just go here instead: Beto for Senate)

Speaking truth to power, as difficult as it is, is just one part of achieving justice.

Scalia. ‘Nuf said. (Although there are plenty that argue that Scalia didn’t say what we think he said.)

What if?

Heroic presidents gonna hero. Oh, wait…

What if we had state legislatures that would provide enough funds for education so this could become a reality?

Dana, honey, just give it up. The tide has turned.

    • As per usual, it wasn’t quite what I originally planned, but sometimes I just go with what my mood dictates. After watching the disingenuous parsing of words by Ms. Loesch, which she knew full well depended upon a technicality that she could have explained readily, I was irked. I don’t like it from politicians, and I certainly don’t like it from representatives of the Death Lobby, whether they are personally registered as lobbyists or not.

      • Go with the flow is sometimes the best policy. :) And yeah, the Death Lobby – or actually the most vocal and active Death Lobby as there are many on that side of the political spectrum – needs to be exposed for what they are. moar {{{HUGS}}}

  1. Good morning, Meese. Thanks for the double posting, DoReMi. Like you’ve commented elsewhere, I’m close to becoming a single issue voter when it comes to the NRA. They should be banned from lobbying. Period.

    39 right now and 60 for the high with sunshine today. Then back to rain for the rest of the week. Got about an inch yesterday. More coffee needed if I can extract the kitteh.

    • Did you see the hail yesterday? 50 was pretty bad, but fortunately I was able to find other ways to get to where I needed to be.

  2. I’m going to be here sporadically today. I have an ailing pup, and there is nothing quite as needy and pathetic as an under-the-weather basset hound. I’d be laughing if she weren’t so miserable…

      • Thanks; she should be ok per the vet, but in the meantime, she’s wearing a Cone of Shame and hasn’t quite figured out how to maneuver with it on. It took her more than an hour to figure out that she could lie down while wearing it…she’s adorable but maybe not the brightest basset in the litter!

          • I’ve always said that bassets aren’t dumb; they’re just differently motivated. But I’m far from an objective source when it comes to bassets! (And she’s got me trained. I finally took the cone off so she could sleep, but now, of course, I have to sit by her side in the event she wakes and tries to lick herself. She’s planted herself on my lap, so there goes any chance of getting much done today. Did I say she wasn’t bright?!)
