Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: March 18th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (every Sunday morning). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will now split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page and use the link.

  1. Saturday and 33 here in NY – going up to 44. No rain in the forecast for here or DC so it looks like folks will have good marching weather. I’m not marching -would need a wheelchair – will watch the coverage – we have a large one happening walking across the Hudson River bridge

    Puerto Rico

  2. Excited about the march today. My church is going — we’re meeting there then taking the city bus down to city hall, then the march is to the Capitol. I’m taking sunscreen & wearing a cap. I filled my camelback last night — it’s going to be in the mid 80s. Listening to American Soul.

  3. Mid 60s since Thursday afternoon, really – temp ranged from daytime high of 67 to nighttime lows of 63 – too warm for fires, too cool for comfort (for me). Overcast at the moment although the sun is trying. Only got 13.5 KWHs yesterday. With this morning’s driblet m-t-d is 325 – still on target to get 400 for the month but need to average over 9/day to do it.

    Krugman is right – he usually is. (And acknowledges when he’s not.) That’s what’s happened to the R party – full of evil scoundrels and conmen – and the R base – full of evil easily conned men and their Stockholm Syndrome womenfolk. Our team has to stop expecting ANY kind of goodness or decency from them. But Extreme Left = Extreme Right. There’s no decency or goodness in the Lefties either – their politicians are conmen, their supporters are conned men & their Stockholm Syndrome womenfolk. We cannot work with or depend on either group. It’s a pity we can’t isolate them somewhere to feed off each other and let us live our lives. But we can’t. We have to circumvent their evil, get the power to change policies and reallocate resources to reduce the impact of their evil (especially change policies to eliminate systemic racism & systemic misogyny), and contain the evil as much as is humanly possible. Not easy. Won’t happen anytime soon. But we can make progress once we’ve accepted that it’s up to us. Ain’t nobody else gonna help us.

    Gotta a bunch of outdoor stuff to get done while it’s still relatively warm. Bright the day, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}

  4. Good morning, 39 and raining in Bellingham. RonK and I both have colds so we’re staying warm and dry today. Ava’s spring soccer season opens today and some of the family is marching and registering voters so we’ll find a way to support them from home.

    Has anyone heard from Diana? I hope she’s settling into her new home and recovering from the move.
