  2. Thanks, all. I was so profoundly moved by the Haaland/Davids hug and also buoyed by it, even more than I thought would be possible. I think we’re all going to need the strength after tonight’s propaganda statement during primetime; consider yourselves preemptively hugged.

    • That has been something I have wondered about for a while – ever since I saw their greeting at the opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. When I look at him and his mannerisms, I wonder if he is in the early stages of dementia and functioning at an emotional level that touches her heart in some way. I personally would not be able to overlook his role in 9/11 and the Iraq war and Abu Ghraib and would be unable to touch him. But that is me, I am not as nice as Michelle Obama!
