Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: Jan. 20th through Jan. 26th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will now split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page and use the link.

  1. Up, watching the news. Trump caving, why does Jared have a security clearance, Venezuela, Elliot Abrams (what the hell??)….. It’ll be nice this afternoon, so I’m going to try for a walk. Not pushing, and I’ll take water because I will cough. Anyway, that and groceries is my day. Got a few donations yesterday, up to 45% of my overall goal and it’s only January.

  2. It’s 29 feels like 22 and sunny. We won’t get any generation until the snow sublimes off the solar panels. Sigh. But at least it is sunny and it’s also going up into the 40s so I might be able to get a bit of outside work done. Besides feeding wild birds, semi-feral cats, and pouring boiling water into the water dishes to thaw holes in the ice. We did get 6.8 KWHs yesterday before it clouded over and the snow started. We didn’t get much – the roads were warm enough that it didn’t stick fortunately and while the ground is still covered the dead grass is poking up through it. Maybe an inch. I’d be surprised if it’s 2. Of course it doesn’t take much to cover the solar panels. sigh. Anyway the m-t-d is 121 and we’ve got 6 production days left in January including today.

    At least we’re back and running – paying our way again for a bit. I devoutly hope Nancy & the Dems can keep #45 & the Deplorables from shutting it down again. Ever would be good but any time soon will do. Meanwhile we help our online families as best we can and keep on keepin’ on. (I hope the fundraiser for Bobby is enough to give him some breathing room and take some of the pressure off him.) And lots of prayer or Good Vibes or Channeling or whatever your tradition calls it – out to everyone everywhere for their shaping. Knowing the Source is infinite kinda helps too sometimes.

    Meanwhile, I need coffee and then go out in the cold to do my shopping errands. Bright the day, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}

    • And a W00T!!!! – Ono posted an update and the fundraiser for Bobby’s brought in almost $2000 already! Rent, utilities, food, & meds for a couple of months at least. Blessings on all concerned.

  3. Good morning, 42 and cloudy in Bellingham. It’s foggy outside but the garden shop has blooming bulbs and and my ready to go fake tulips and forsythia are easy to find so I’m going to bring spring to the porches today. It’s often dark and wet in the PNW, but spring comes early. I love the vibrant green of the moss on the rocks and pavers.

    Best wishes to all.

    • {{{basket}}} sounds like it’s gonna be a lovely afternoon for a walk. Skritches to the cats. moar {{{HUGS}}}
