Good Sunday morning, Moosekind!. We went to bed last night to the sound of heavy rain and awakened this morning to heavy rain again. At nearly 10 a.m. the sky seems to be clearing, and there are patches of blue among the white veil of cloud. The current temp. in Ashburn in 68 F., with a high predicted of 74 F. I don’t mind this at all.
Feeling pale and exhausted after yesterday’s celebrations. I sweartagoddess, Dearly and I have the best children in the world! When we drew up at Trevor’s house, we were greeted by a “Happy Birthday” message in large letters stuck into the lawn by elder son Eric and wife Mindy. I promptly photographed it because the rain seemed likely to start very soon. Inside the house the two boys, aged 5 and 6, were shrieking happily as they raced around the ground floor and up the stairs, the white boxer Mort gazed at me lovingly as he tried to sit on my feet, and there was a lot of excited chatter. My darling Nora seemed rather quiet, although she joined the boys in watching something on the TV later.
After the gourmet meal (every course of which I photographed), we went into the living room for a Zoom meeting. All 14 members of the Australian branch joined it. My husband was thrilled to chat with his 92-year-old brother, who smiled benignly through the proceedings. Let me tell you, Melbourne is REALLY locked down! They can’t go outside after 8 p.m.*, only one member of the household can leave the house, once a day, to buy necessary supplies, school of course is virtual, and so on. At least here members of the family can visit each other. Anyway, it was all hilarious and having the Zoom meeting on Trevor’s enormous TV made it all easier. We’re getting Nora over here next weekend to set up our TV and computers for Zoom.
We were too full to eat a proper Sunday breakfast this morning. I’m exhausted, and I didn’t even do any of the work! Trevor made two birthday cakes, one frosted with chocolate frosting, and one decorated with slices of fresh mango and coconut icing. I had a slice of that one, and it was delicious.
Looking for an easy day today. Still furious about the USPS. I hope something is done well before September 17th! This is NOT a winning issue for the Rethugs. When I think of all the SS checks people are awaiting, not to speak of paychecks, medications, and the like, it makes me feel white with rage. I hope even Trumpanzees will vote Democratic.
OK, that’s enough from yrs truly for today. Wishing all at the Pond a nice, peaceful Sunday with no bad news.

When I learned of the 8 p.m. curfew I was uncomfortably reminded of the opening entry of Anne Frank’s diary, when she remarked that after May 1940, good times rapidly fled. Jews could not even sit in their own gardens after 8 p.m. It’s not the same, of course, but still, it was disquieting.
It is so hot, again. 80 degrees when I did my walk/run — but I made it to 4 1-minute running segments & 2 at 45 seconds. There’s a cold front coming next week, it’s going to chill down to highs of 98-100. Brrr! Today: church, then making next week’s breakfasts.
It was 68 at dawn, 72 now, and neither air temp nor heat index are supposed to quite reach 90 today. Which is lovely if it happens that way. Totally weird for August but still lovely. The next 10 days are supposed to be like that with “overnight lows” on side or the other of 60. Nice. We generated 18.9 KWHs yesterday so our m-t-d of 267 is still on track. Also nice.
ARDOH decided to do some “spring cleaning” in which they removed 1251 positive cases from our cumulative state totals as being “out of state” or duplicates. So while we actually added 851 cases between Friday and Saturday (and 14 deaths) – all accurately reported in their appropriate boxes – the total went down. A lot. And our positivity rates went down. Only 1% statewide – but here in Washington County, where just incidentally of course the University of AR is located (& is opening up, already moving students into the dorms & Greek houses), the positivity rate went from 20% to 12%. Republican death cult indeed.
Aji got a sale yesterday which is good. She really needs one a week to make ends meet. (That’s not counting the irrigation well.) But any/all sales are good. Everybody’s hanging in there. Doing what they can with the resources they’ve got. Of the small group (because it’s with my personal resources not the combined power of Kossacks helping KossacksInNeed like I used to do) I’m still helping personally they’re all on the edge but still here. Fortunately there’s no limit on Universal Energy. Just my ability to channel it. I do the best I can there, too.
Most of the Sunday chores are done. The floor is never ending with 5 cats. (So my “exercise” right now is sweeping – in 5 to 10 minute increments – pretty much the same areas over and over and over again. LOL) Gonna head over to DK for morning music. Bright the day, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}
Good morning, 76 and mostly sunny in Bellingham. I was going to work in the garden yesterday, but the reality of life with arthritic knees got real so I just read my book outside and made mental notes for what I’ll do on a better day. I did make two big hydrangea arrangements so the kitchen and living room has bouquet drama :)

Speaker Pelosi is calling the House back to develop and vote on legislation to protect the US Postal Service ahead of the election. They are expecting tRump lickspittle Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to show up to testify to which I say HAHAHAHAHAHAHA – have they not been paying attention? I think that they should set up a cardboard cutout of the Monopoly Moneybags guy in the empty seat and conduct the hearing by asking monocle-man the questions they would ask DeJoy – and providing the answers! We need to make a VERY BIG STINK about the post office slowdown – this is one issue that Democrats share with rural Republicans and if we can make enough red state Senators nervous (even those not up for re-election) maybe we can get something passed that tRump can’t veto. It can’t include more money – he will never agree to that – but it clearly needs to control what can be changed in the lead up to the election. We can fix the money problem next year when we take back power.
I was up again way too early but this should be an easier week after I tidy up a few things. I finally offloaded some client work that I really can’t do remotely any longer and I need to delink my brain from it and then I will be back to normal sleeplessness over COVID! College will start here in a few weeks and fingers crossed that required masks and social distancing help keep the outbreaks few and small. Everyone is nervously eying that the testing capacity has been reduced in blue states and redirected to red states under Mike QTipHead Pence’s task force. I hope they criminally charge him as well as his boss and his boss’ son-in-law for their part in the mismanagement of the pandemic response. When they follow that money trail, I can’t help but think it will reveal corruptions of epic proportions. #LockThemUp

Cooler here — only 99 today. Running into the office this morning to drop off finished applications, and hopefully pick up more. Wearing my “formal wear” of capris & a U2 t-shirt.
It was 60 at dawn, 66 now (I may be able to get some time on the treadmill this morning), heading for 89 with no heat index. I like this. 😁 It’s sunny at the moment and if it holds like it’s supposed to today we should see what the PV system is capable of at this point in the year. Yesterday we got 20 KWHs and the m-t-d is 287, most definitely still on track.
Same ol’ same ol’ – Evil Ones doing evil & cheating to stay in power so they can keep doing it. Our team doing its/our best to stop them and roll back the evil. And that’s at all levels, public and private. sigh. “My” folks are hanging on. Some barely, some doing OK as long as another emergency doesn’t show up before they recover from the last one. I do what I can as best I can. Holding myself back from doing more than I can recover from. I’m still not used to that part of being retired – no flexibility to that fixed income I’m on. Good Monday morning, Moosekind! It’s a sunny day here with cloudless blue skies. When we got up at 6:30 the temperature was 63 F.! The humidity is also low, so I’m going for a walk, for the first time in weeks, as soon as I post this. Currently it’s 70 F., going up to 83 F. I don’t believe the rest of the forecast (it diverges from the TV weather forecast), so I won’t post it here.
Felt rather terrible yesterday but am feeling much perkier this morning. Perhaps it was allergies that were making me feel so bad. I couldn’t cook breakfast or dinner and spent a lot of time lying down. Today, after a fairly decent sleep, I’m full of energy.
Accidentally posted a photo of Dearly surrounded by grandchildren to Twitter yesterday. I was trying to post it to Facebark but evidently pressed the wrong button. Gad. At least they weren’t identified, although DoReMI said she felt as if she knew them, and I tweeted back, “You do.”
We’re getting Miss Pink Cheeks for the weekend. She’s going to set up Zoom on our big TV for us. Children know everything nowadays.

Good morning, 70 and sunny in Bellingham. I clipped the garden side of ivy fences along the alley yesterday and my knees are still complaining, but oh well. The upper garden has my potting bench, an old picnic table covered with moss and plants, and a vine maple planting that gives privacy from both the alley and the uphill neighbors. It’s also where we park so it’s what we see coming and going. The ivy was growing into the trees and spreading over the gravel walkway so it was past time to clip it back. Ivy is an amazingly powerful plant, and is now considered a noxious weed in our state, but when we planted the ivy fences 40 yrs ago it was the best choice for privacy and year around greenery. It’s still classic but requires a lot of regular maintenance. Ron will finish clipping the alley side of the fences today and then another truck load will go to the dump where it will become compost.

The Democratic National Convention was on too late for me. By 8pm, I am flagging and have little energy to keep my head up, much less concentrate on speeches. Many of Monday night’s speeches would have been muted anyway so I will watch the ones I want off my DVR.
Today is the 100th anniversary of white women getting the vote. I wish I could celebrate but I can’t – the current state of the country makes it impossible to celebrate anything. I will do all my celebrating for all the anniversaries missed since January 20, 2017 on January 20, 2021.

Nice morning, 75 degrees for my walk/run & I made it to 5 segments of 1 minute running — most ever! The streak of 100+ degree highs continues. Loved the convention last night, felt hopeful for the first time in….maybe years.
