Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: October 31st

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. Slept in, watching the news, got next week’s tea steeping. Going to a gala this evening. The team that I did the half marathon with is being honored by the children’s shelter (now merged with domestic violence & rape crisis agencies; new thing is SAFE — Stop Abuse For Everyone) for having raised a lot of money over the years. Even though I haven’t trained with them for a couple of years, they still asked me to come. So I’ll put on my purple velvet outfit and go. The theme is “coat of many colors” and this is Austin, purple velvet will probably not even stand out.

  2. Good morning, 47 and cloudy in Bellingham. Yesterday was very busy, but most of the prep for tonight’s dinner is done. I have a cake to bake this morning, and I hope to have time for a nap before the family arrives this evening. I’m weary, but grateful to have this time together.

    Best wishes to all.

  3. Good Saturday afternoon, Meese. Dearly lost his head and set all the clocks back while I was at the play last evening. I did not like the play. First of all, I could only hear two of the characters: the rest were just so many mumblers. Second, I thought the whole thing seemed stupid and retro. Third, what little I could hear of the jokes did not seem funny. I can only suppose I’m an old bee-yatch. I left during the intermission.

After my terribly taxing, stressful week, I just haven’t been able to do much all day. It’s a gloriously sunny day here in Asbhurn, 56 F. , so on the chilly side. All that driving and running around on Sunday, plus the stress on Tuesday, plus the stressful driving and watching my grandson on Thursday, just hit me like a ton of bricks. (How original!)

So I’m guiltily not doing laundry right now. The dog always, without exception, waits until Dearly and I have a nice hot drink before barking to go out. Well, he’ll just have to wait. For once, I am going to drink my drink before it gets cold.

Have a good aftrnoon and evenng, Meese!
