Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: November 20th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. Good afternoon Meese. I’m late today. Stuffed still from yesterday and getting ready to have leftovers for lunch.

  3. Good morning, meeses! Saturday …

    It is 41 degrees in Tucson with an expected daytime high of 61. Sunny skies are in the forecast. I was laughing at the local weather segment on last night’s news talking about the overnight temperatures – it said COLD and had the depiction of a frozen thermometer next to it. No, freezing occurs at 32, and, no, 40 degrees above zeros is not what I would call COLD.

    I have been thinking about Twitter and until there is a service that pushes tweets with articles and sports scores and the like to me, I will keep a Twitter account. If I end up getting sucked into the nazi threads, I will just lock my account. However, I am going to do my tweet-like commenting from mastodon – I have to figure out how to more easily share an article or tweet, though, as there is no Toot This button on articles. I don’t have a wide reach anyway, most of my tweets are articles I see and want to share and they are rarely retweeted and only occasionally liked. Someone said that the Twitter algorithm is changed (broken?) and tweets are not really getting boosted based on retweets and likes any longer.

    I spent yesterday watching sporting events on TV and will do quite a bit of that today as well. Now that I missed the sweet spot for getting invoices emailed officially during the work week, I can wait until Sunday to finish my accounting work. Procrastination success!!

    See all y’all later!

  4. Good morning. Still rainy & chilly. The West Wing marathon has me glued to the couch. I could live in that world forever. Today: laundry, groceries, maybe some cooking.

  5. It’s 45 heading for 54 although the windchill won’t make it that high. Dark, damp, and going to rain soon (according to the widget). Yesterday we almost made it to 7 KWHs, 2nd highest production day for the month. The m-t-d is 142.66 – there’s no way we’re going to make 180, which is what we did last year, but we might make it above the 165 we did in 2019. We’ve still got 5 production days left. There are things I like about winter. Short days and cold/stiff/achy hands are not among them.

    I’ll be on twitter until it throws me off or stops working. I’ve a list of addresses to follow people to once it does. Otherwise I don’t know what I’m going to do. Except keep on keepin’ on. Bright the day, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}

  6. Good morning, 42 and cloudy outside my window today. My mind is restless but my body is still weary so I’m looking for balance today. Ready or not my Christmas list is waiting for action so that will be today’s focus. Best wishes to all.
