Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: Mar. 15th through Mar. 21st

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will now split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page and use the link.

  1. Good Woden’s Day morning, Moosekind! It’s still pitch-dark here in Ashburn at 6:30 a.m. The current temp. is 40 F., going up to 58 F. today. It’s going to be cloudy.

    Had another too-short night. It has just occurred to me that some of my sleep problem may be connected to the time change. Although I did have a rest yesterday after lunch, by dinner time I was aching terribly in hips and legs. Well, I’ll just have to be careful.

    There’s no newspaper delivery to apartments now. Yesterday there was. Now they’re being delivered to the front desk in both clubhouses and we’ll receive them whenever the Powers That Be get around to it. Fortunately both Dearly and I both have the WaPo on our iPads.

    Feel very pleased that Biden won so decisively yesterday. Also feel that #DropOutBernie should be the hashtag of the day on Twitter. Biden will be our nominee. Although I haven’t actually watched him online or elsewhere, reports are that he is already acting presidential. That’s what this country needs right now.

    Here at the Home the restaurants and bars are closed. People can pick up takeaway at the restaurant closest to them. I won’t do it. On Saturdays the staff will begin delivering boxed meals right to our doors. Until then, we will continue to cook and eat at home.

    Yesterday I saw Jakey Tapper and Sanjay Gupta on CNN whining about the San Franciscans who were out walking and jogging. CNN showed the videoclip several times while Jake and Sanjay were talking. Apparently these selfish San Franciscans are jeopardizing everyone around them by exercising outside. Huh? My husband walks the dog outside the building every day because dogs have to be walked. The two of us take Monty outside for business. I’ve been going for a half-hour walk around the campus every day, acknowledging the presence of others when I meet them, but not talking. My blood pressure is on the high side so I thought going for a walk might help.

    So, I don’t know. I do know that I’ve got to get my act together and get some chores done. Problem is, without sufficient sleep I can’t really focus on anything long enough to accomplish my self-imposed tasks.

    Enough gritching from me—wishing everyone at the Pond a safe, healthful day.

    • I think the time change may still be disturbing sleep. I had been sleeping pretty well through the night but this morning I was up at 1:30am. I forced myself to lay in bed until 2:00am then had to get up because there was no stopping my brain. I did get some things done this morning so I am hoping that will result in being able to go offline sooner.

  2. Wednesday Meese. 33 going up to 54 here in the Catskills

    Overslept this morning – due to reaction to flu and pneumonia shots yesterday. Elated to see Biden wins

  3. Woke up early & walked again. We had a meeting yesterday about how we are not (yet) closing. Good news is, if the agency closes, we’ll still get paid. Several co-workers either have medical conditions themselves or have an ill spouse or young child so they’re staying home. The woman who is never in on Mondays & always “needs” to leave early on Fridays announced she has asthma so she’s staying home. I’m trying not to hate her, because what’s the point. They said we shouldn’t feel pushed by the call queue, just do what you can — but when you see that someone’s been waiting 6 or 8 minutes….. Having even one more person taking calls would make a difference. Anyway, I’m listening to gorgeous music (Stay again) and eating overnight oats. Drinking tea, being happy I still have some of the chocolate & caramel flavored ones I got at Christmas.

    • So, the Capitol building is closed to the public. Ours is, too — but closing the Capitol is big.

  4. It’s 58 heading for 74 and while it’s not supposed to the sun is trying to come out. It’s at least light enough I don’t need a lamp on to read my keyboard. It lightened up enough yesterday we got 9.5 KWHs so covered my use and made up for Monday not coving my use. The m-t-d is 168.8, still not quite on track for even 300 which would be a bad month for March. Hope we get some decent sunshine soon. Self-quarantine is bad enough without the overcast. We shall see what we shall see.

    So far everything’s going OK. At least for me. Good that Joe won. Since Joe is male, bernie may be forced out. He won’t go any other way. But of course with Hillary being female…sigh. If there were a single person responsible for where we are, bernie’s it. But of course there isn’t. To a certain extent there’s a single cause – racism – but while that’s core it’s not only. Just nattering to release some pressure. Because of course I’m worried – about my friends, about the country, about the world. And while some friends are better situated to ride things out, some aren’t. And Time keeps rolling, bills come due whether or not there’s money to meet them, food has to be prepare/cleaned up after/restocked…So revenue is that need that folks who have it are just coming to understand not everybody does – and it’s not those folks fault they don’t. One more we shall see what we shall see.

    Meanwhile everybody stay as safe & distanced as you can. Prayers/invocations/Healing Energy for everybody. Bright the day, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}

  5. Good morning, 36 and partly sunny in Bellingham. I was awake in the night again, but my early morning nap was restful so I won’t complain. Looks like a series of naps is my sleep pattern now.

    We are slowly adjusting to the changes COVID has brought to our lives, but it’s hard to accept we may not all be together for an unknown amount of time. Thanks to iPhone magic we have a family text stream going so that helps. Our local grocery store has reserved 2 hrs on Tue and Thurs mornings for people in our age/risk category to shop so that will help RonK. I’m restless and worried, but our son is feeling better so that helps. I’m hoping I can focus on one of my many unfinished projects soon and that the familiar routine of work, creative time and rest will make all of this feel more normal.

    Best wishes to all, and may we all have moments of peace today.

  6. So, there is a “symptoms consistent” person in my section. They sent us all home immediately. I’m fine, no one who was working was showing symptoms so it’s either Ms Doesn’t Work Mondays or someone in cataloging/tech services. It’s a little freaky, but since I feel fine I’m just going to watch the afternoon repeats of Stargate & not worry.

  7. Good evening, Meesefolk! I think about you all every day, but after spending a huge portion of each workday on the computer, coming home and firing up mine is the last thing I want to do. But I figured I was overdue in providing proof of life (and I spent less time on the computer today than usual).

    So…let’s see. I still love my job, Hubby is losing his in May (announced about two weeks before the sh*tstorm hit), because the furniture store chain he works for was sold to a hedge fund three years ago and is now bankrupt. (In other words, the usual hedge fund result.) And last but not least, my elders are still safe, but it would help if we had a functioning government. I have young employees who are falling apart because they’re terrified they’re going to become a death-causing vector and so are calling in for the slightest reason. In the meantime, the corporate PTB are trying to find the balance between our draconian absence policy and the CDCs updated policy (from the first week in March) which opens the door to having sick healthcare workers on the job, and half of a workforce which is ready to revolt at any moment and the other half which somehow thinks they can just take off for 14 days, get paid, and still have a job…because their brother’s girlfriend’s father’s plumber said so (that last one is NOT made up).

    So how is everyone here?

    • Nice to see you, DoReMI!! I had been thinking of you during the lead-up to the Michigan primary and wondering how you are doing.

      It would be a challenging time to be in Human Resources – I am not sure how people are managing and we are not even 1/90th of the way into this. I saw that some places are changing their “draconian absence policies”; a local grocery store chain had one that if you have more than three absences for any reason, you were fired and reportedly that has softened.

      By the way, I am not shocked that “taking 14 days off for any reason and getting paid” is going viral – apparently the Wisconsin Republican Congressional delegation heard the same thing and they all voted against the Families First bill. Wisconsin’s idiot Senator Ron Freaking Johnson said that people will cheat and use it as a way to get a paid vacation. He believes the Paul Ryan mantra, that “the social safety net will become a hammock” causing able-bodied people to stop wanting to work and live large off the sweat of hardworking taxpayers. A guy who has never had to work – he got his job because his father-in-law didn’t want to see his daughter starve and hired him – has opinions about people gaming the system. Projection! I despise our state’s Republican Party and can’t wait until they are a minority in the Senate as well as the House.

    • I saw yesterday that General Conference has been postponed. Wonder what that means for the big split.

    • {{{DoReMI}}} – so good to see you here at the Pond. Obviously the Rs are still in charge in way too many places. After causing the problem in the first place they of course are trying to hamstring any and all solutions to surviving it. Sigh. You definitely have one of the harder jobs right now. (& of the the Hedge Fund sucked all the money out and then went bankrupt. That’s what Hedge Funds do. Colonizer-system writ small.) Holding you in my heart. Healing Energy & moar {{{HUGS}}}

    • We miss you DoReMI!

      Sorry about your husband’s losing his job but hope you can keep yours!

      And I also hope that your employer revises its draconian leave policy.

  8. Good morning, meeses! Thursday, the first day of Spring

    It is 39 degrees in Madison with an expected high of 48. It looks like it will rain all day.

    The universities in Wisconsin have officially closed in-person classes through the end of the semester. My daughter is home and nervous about how online classes will work. She is technically on Spring Break – sadly unable to do anything but text her friends who were scattered to the winds when they shut down her school for what was initially going to be just 4 weeks. I hope that the universities have some “give” in their grading so that it does not become a lost semester because students are not as good at online learning as they were at in-person. They should have generous “virus curves”! I saw a video of a spring break student in Florida bragging about partying and not caring about viruses. JHC! He has to be a MAGAt – the selfishness rolls off those people in waves. I am so glad my daughter cancelled her trip.

    People are attacking Nancy Pelosi for wanting to get the planned cash infusion to people who need it rather than give a $1,000 check to Bill Gates. Well, duh! I despise the left-of-the-left and their reflexive hatred of Speaker Pelosi – they are worse than the rabid right-wing who hate her because she is a strong smart woman. She is the most effective legislator in my lifetime and her leadership is comforting as chaos is swirling around us.

    I have some projects to do this morning so I need to get to them. I have the first wave of work-from-home people set up with a second wave expected next week. It turns out that sending people home to work from their home computers doesn’t work well when their home computers are creaky slow and out of date! Who knew? :)

    See all y’all later!

  9. Thursday Meese. Raining and chilly here in the Catskills

    Puerto Rico

    • Yes, tossing paper towel rolls to people and calling it a day turns out to be the Republican response to any disaster. We need to respond by voting the walking talking LYING disaster out of the White House and turning his blighted party into a permanent minority.

  10. Day 1 of isolation. Going to come up with a schedule so I don’t just sit on the couch. Going to get in a walk after the storms blow through. And do housework. Wow, we’ve had 80s all week, but the front after this storm will give us 60s tomorrow.

    • {{{another}}} – definitely a schedule. And absolutely one that includes exercise. I’m on day 5 and there’s nothing like not being able to go out and do things to make you want to go out and do things. moar {{{HUGS}}}

  11. Good morning, 35 and partly cloudy in Bellingham. Last night one of the people our son was with two weeks ago in Idaho was admitted to the hospital and another friend is really sick. Both of them tried to get tested for COVID over a week ago but were told they “weren’t sick enough.” Our son is still sick, but better overall than he was last week. So the wait continues. Fortunately I can take and hold a deep breath so I may be able to keep virus anxiety/tRump angst at a manageable level. :::sigh:::

    So thankful our moose pond is a safe gathering spot. Best wishes to all.

  12. Dunno if “happy” is the right term right now but definitely Blessed Ostara to everyone. Morning in Fay., AR started at 65 and raining. Which it still is. It’s supposed to get up to 75 by late afternoon and stop raining by mid afternoon. So no fire again tonight – but the temps will drop afterwards & be chilly Friday. Meanwhile, although the PV system is on, it’s not by much and I’ve got my desk lamp on so I can read my keyboard. Yesterday cleared off enough we got a bit over 11 KWHs by the end of the day and the m-t-d is sitting right at 180 – if I thought we were gonna get at least 10 today I’d say we were at least on track for 300 by the end of the month. But I don’t so I won’t.

    I didn’t wake up until a bit after 8 with the rain and darkness. Which except for the headache sort of made up for the couple of hours in the middle of the night I was awake with a sinusitis episode. sigh. Today’s my 5th of physical isolation/no contact except cats. It’s a good thing I’ve gotten used to not going to work. I still have that vague feeling I should be doing something in the back of my mind anyway. I’d probably be going nuts if I were still working. So my schedule is pretty much set except for spreading out how often I do grocery store & critter supply runs. It still feels strange. But that’s much more the “I can’t do…” than what I need or would even want to do if it weren’t an “I can’t do…” – I don’t know if all humans are wired like that or just those of our white (privileged/colonizer) society. Which is kind of immaterial anyway.

    Many decades back I remember reading a way-too-hopeful book about how computers/internet were going to have us all working from home and that we would rebuild/restore family relationships and small communities that way. That with people at home it would be like (a glorified version of) old-time farming communities where people did their own work but also were available & willing to help each other with big jobs and emergencies. Quite utopian and totally ignoring how many service & maintenance jobs can’t be done from home or via computer – and how many would flat go away under such a scenario. (Also ignoring that if you’re home and your kids are home you may not be able to do that work you’re being paid to do.) So very much not realistic. But we may be about to find out how close to real that can become.

    Folks have health issues. Folks have financial issues. Those feed back on each other and it’s gonna get worse. We need a WWII-type mobilization to survive this on both issues and we won’t get it as long as Rs are in charge. So. Vote Decent when we can. Do whatever else we can. Plan ahead as best we can then do it day by day. Healing/Helping Energy to everybody. Bright the Day, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}

  13. Good morning, Moosekind, althoughit’s nearly not morning. This Thor’s Day has been showery but mild. We’re supposed to have a high in the 70’s today. Right now it’s 52 F. in Ashburn.

    We went out at 7:30 this morning to buy groceries. Monty is on a diet, so we needed to buy food for that. There was little bread to be had and NO eggs. Thank Goddess I bought some last time I went! We have enough to be going on with.

    Tonight will be Vegetarian Night, which Dearly doesn’t mind. I was able to score a whole bag of Fuji apples at the store. There was no stewing beef to be had, but I did get two little steaks that were reduced in price. We’ll have those on Sunday.

    I wore gloves and a mask to visit the store and we both washed our hands with soap and water when we arrived home again. We’re still taking it slowly. I feel really dazed and confused; simply can’t focus on anything. I can’t even read books, which for me is unbelievable. I hope we don’t have to leave the campus again. Right now we’re still walking and taking the dog out. I’m going to look for a YouTube video that shows how to use those elastic band things, I’ve got those and free weights.

    More and more I am impressed with New York’s Governor Cuomo, who was speaking on TV this morning. He seems 100% more presidential than Turnip.

    Wishing a good day to all at the Pond and praying that we all stay safe.

    • {{{Diana}}} – a number of my online friends are complaining that they can’t concentrate enough to read right now. It’s the stress of course. Nobody’s system trusts becoming focused when they fear an attack from any direction. Breathe and nap if you can. Healing Energy & moar {{{HUGS}}}

  14. Morning meeses. Friday …

    It is 37 degrees in Madison with an expected daytime high of 34. When I woke up, there were crunchy things hitting the window and my weather widget said “snow” which I don’t see. The “snow” is supposed to end and we will have cloudy skies this afternoon and clearing tonight.

    I just finished reading a story about a couple in Louisiana (in tRump bootlicker Steve Scalise’s district) who were all “coronavirus is a Democrat hoax invented to embarrass our Lord and Saviour Donald Trump” – until “one of them got COVID-19”. The husband is a 45 year old attorney who is now in ICU on a ventilator – he has not drawn a breath on his own since last Friday. She thinks he got it from a Mardi Gras parade in their home town of Kenner because, of course, it is only libtards who do “social distancing”, real Americans make toilet paper hoarding jokes! The damage done by right-wing media echoing their leader’s paranoia and repeating his lies cannot be overstated. These people, whose hatred of The Other and gobsmacking ignorance elected tRump and keeps his political party in power, are reaping the whirlwind but we are all suffering because of it. Goddess help us.

    Wisconsin had its first two deaths – one was from a group of 9 in Fond du Lac county (northeast of here) infected after an Egyptian river cruise that spread the disease to about 300 people in multiple countries. He was 55 years old so people who think it is just the olds who are going to die had better wake the hell up. It can kill anyone – it is a nasty, nasty disease.

    I have a ton of projects to work on but I am exhausted from the stress – the stress that started on November 9, 2016 – and really I just want to sit and stare at a wall. We all knew that a Trump presidency would be terrible but I think most of us expected him to start a thermonuclear war in the Far East or the Middle East, not wreck our federal government with his hubris and ignorance and destroy our ability to respond to a global pandemic. I am not sure how the economy recovers because, unlike the last time a Republican crashed the economy, the fixes are not just cash infusions and loans and we can’t “shop” our way out of this – we are also fighting a deadly virus that may well destroy our public health system. So many lives disrupted, so many dreams put on hold – and it is just beginning.

    Take care and see all y’all later!

    • I feel your stress. I’m in the same place.
      Wondering if we’ll make it through this. Trying to look forward to moving – and depressed that we may not make it into the new house.
      Angry that far too many people let a lunatic get into the WH

      • All we can do is stay strong for those who need us. And hope we make it to January 2021 when President Biden can take over the reins of government.

      • It’s scary anyway but especially scary for folks in your situation. Tells you how off kilter my brain is though. I thought you’d already moved. Doubling-down on the Good Thought to get you safely in there. (A-friggen-MEN on those people who put twitler in the WH.) & {{{HUGS}}}

  15. Rain overnight & a serious cold front. It got to the mid 80s yesterday, may get to the low 60s today. Going to go for a walk later, and clean house. Yesterday, the singer from Snow Patrol did a home concert, Melissa Etheridge is doing one every day, my U2 friends are planning watch parties of concert videos…. people are finding ways of being together.

  16. Friday Meese raining and 46. Weather says it is going up to 75 here in Saugerties NY today – which I thought must be a typo – it isn’t. Really weird.

    Puerto Rico

  17. Happy Spring, Moosekind! It’s showery this morning and so mild I have the door to the screened porch open. Right now in Ashburn it’s 67 F. under totally cloudy skies.

    Tonight will be my last day of cooking dinner at home. Starting tomorrow they’re going to deliver three meals’ worth of food at a time to our door. I hope they’re more efficient about it than they are about delivering the newspaper, which used to arrive between 5:30 and 6 a.m. I know it’s a first-world problem to have a late paper delivery, but my husband is nearly 90, not very well, and reading the newspaper lasts him most of the day. He also likes to do the crossword. Reading it on a tablet is not the same, although better than nothing.

    I wrote the date we went to the grocery store (yesterday, early) on the calendar so if we start feeling symptoms we know to call the doctor right away. I’m getting 7-8 hours’ sleep a night through Mind Control, so I actually have more energy to do things.

    Hope everyone is making it through. Stress—yes, we’re all feeling it!

    Wishing we could get some good news. Stay safe, Moosekind!

    • I started a log of my comings and goings so that I would know when I was past the incubation point on them. I still have to get 14 days past a visit to a client on the 10th before I feel comfortable that I have not been exposed – I was there for quite a while and worked with a stranger who could have been a lot of different places (a cable Internet installer) and feel that I did not take very good care to stay away from possibly infected surfaces. The other trips were short and mitigated (extreme care taken before and after) but I logged them nonetheless.

      My elderly mother could not get untethered from her paper newspaper either! I read mine as an e-edition off a tablet because I couldn’t justify spending nearly $300 a year for the paper version. Sometimes I miss it – I think that reading baseball box scores are better on paper – but the savings allows me to subscribe to two Wisconsin newspapers, the Madison paper and the Milwaukee paper, as well as the Washington Post. Good use of my newspaper dollar!

  18. It’s 45 – the furnace just kicked on for the first time in 2 days – and overcast. At least it’s not raining. We got 2″ yesterday and the ground is squishy. At least they’ve taken down the flash flood warning from my weather widget. Yesterday we never got to 75. We started at 65, dropped to 61, and stayed there until the rain stopped and it cleared off around 4:30. Then it went back to 65 until after dark. We generated 3.4 KWHs yesterday, a full 2 of them between 4:30 and 6:00 pm. That’s how strong the sun is when we actually get it. Which according to the weather widget we mostly ain’t gonna this month. sigh. The m-t-d is 183.5 – that pretty much covers what I use in a month when the A/C isn’t running but that’s about all you can say for it.

    Got a thankfully erroneous report of a friend’s death last night. Fortunately it turned out to be the reporting friend’s dyslexia kicking in combined with everybody pretty much fearing the worst these days. We can get through this. Most of us anyway. Whether it’s surviving or thriving is really gonna depend on just how blue a wave we can do this November. If we can get both WH and a strong enough Dem Congress we can – I didn’t say will – rebuild better and stronger. Whether we call it WWII mobilization or a domestic Marshall Plan doesn’t matter but that kind of action is what’s needed. We need to rebuild our our infrastructure, our healthcare system, our judiciary, our environment, and our relationship with the rest of the world. Doing so will rebuild the economy just as a bonus you might say. We have the people and the resources to do that. We have the will as far as a chunk of the population is concerned. We also have a sizable chunk of our population who will try to hamstring us at every turn. And if we don’t breakup that RW propaganda machine while we do all the rest they will succeed just about the time we’ve got everything ready to go into high gear. And that is just a fact. They did it to Jimmy Carter. They did it to Bill Clinton. They did it to Barack Obama. & they’ll do it to Joe Biden if we don’t stop the propaganda. I devoutly hope that while folks are going around saying “Hillary warned us” about everything trump they think back and consider she also warned us about the RW conspiracy to take over our government.

    Worried about folks, of course. So many to worry about. Those I know of course have more of my attention and energy/Energy but those I don’t also need help. Dealing with Depression of my own. It’s getting harder and harder to get up. Yesterday I made a (small) pan of cornbread – then ate the whole thing. No, I won’t do that again any time soon, but still… So. Healing/Helping Energy for everybody. Bright the day, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}

  19. Good morning, 38 and foggy in Bellingham. Health worries, financial worries, tRump angst, election worries…….makes for sleepless nights and restless days. RonK has been going for a long walk every day so he’s doing better than I am. I’ve been puttering in the garden but don’t have the energy or concentration to focus on the pruning that needs to be done. Oh well, just being outside helps regardless of what I do.

    Our son is still sick and his friend is in the hospital waiting for test results. Our DIL’s work is closed until sometime in May, our surveyor son is keeping his firm running with a small crew, our Seattle daughter’s job is secure but she’s becoming more allergic to the cleaning regime her office gets every night, her husband’s office is still open but they are meeting with clients in the parking lot, our Oregon daughter and SIL are both working from home via Zoom. We’re all coping as best we can, and it helps everyone when I can stay positive and keep my sense of humor so that’s what I’m trying to do.

    Best wishes to all on this quiet foggy day.

    • I hope your son’s illness turns out to be “just” the flu or a bad cold. I am glad you have your garden to keep you busy and outside. I feel that things are worse because we can’t open windows and air the house out – nothing like a cleansing breeze to push out the old stale air and bring in the smells of the outside. Soon!!

      My daughter will be starting online learning the week after next (they had an extended spring break so that professors could put online plans in place) and is nervous about how it will work. She is already antsy and wants to meet with friends. I asked her to wait until April 6th – I feel that will give us a better idea who is infected because the test will be more widely available.

  20. Morning, meeses! Saturday …

    It is 25 degrees in Madison with an expected daytime high of 34. Sunny skies are in the forecast.

    There is not much to say – our country is being run by a basketful of deplorables and their incompetence is destroying our health care system. Goddess help anyone who has an accident or a heart attack and needs medical care while our hospitals are filled with virus patients and our doctors and nurses are running on little or no sleep and putting their lives on the line to keep as many people alive as possible. I have been staying at home, only venturing out for necessities, but Monday I have to travel (by car, thankfully) to tidy up some loose ends. That will be the last time I will need to leave the house and I am seriously thinking about paying to have food and groceries delivered rather than rub elbows with MAGATs who still think this is a hoax and have not been practicing social distancing. I am not sure how long I can afford to do that – I guess I will find out. My tax refund is on its way and that will give me some extra money. p.s. Don’t use cash!!

    I was glad to see that Joe Biden is going to do a shadow briefing to get accurate information to people. The lies are the worst part – people still don’t “get” how bad this can become if they don’t stay home. I wonder if cable news will cover him – they love the drama of an unscripted president* and may not find adult words very entertaining.

    The House has been in recess this past week and the Weekly Democratic Party Address is by Rep. Peter DeFazio discussing infrastructure. I am just going to put his address in a comment in last week’s Fighting Back and call it a day.

    I need to finish some quiet-time projects this morning and clear the decks for help desk work next week. I woke up at 1:30am and forced myself to try to go back to sleep for a half hour then gave up. One good thing is that my dreams were not filled with pandemic mitigation – my sleeping brain works on solutions, usually – but were more like the ones I had before all this happened. I think that is a good sign, perhaps it means that I have done everything I can and now I just need to sit back and wait it out.

    See all y’all later!
