Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: July 11th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  2. Good morning, all. Watching the news & Le Tour. It has been so nice having the Tour to distract from all the awful news. Today: make tea & overnight oats. That’s really it. Maybe some housekeeping.

  3. It’s 73 heading for 84 and raining. Hard. We also have a flood watch – but I’m not on the flood plain. I’m sitting in the middle of it you might say. Mine is one of 4 lots at the top of the “rise” on this street that isn’t. So I’ve been marooned upon occasion. But not danger myself. We generated 13.5 KWHs yesterday. The m-t-d is 264 – not on track and losing ground. sigh.

    Not on track and losing ground unfortunately seems to describe what the nation is doing. For all the Dems are frantically filling and piling sandbags to block the floodwaters, they keep rising. Seems to be an apt description for Aji and Amelia. Jill and my friend are both up in the air and we don’t know yet where exactly they’ll come down. Hold the Good Thoughts. Or whatever.

    I had a rough night but “slept in” to make up for it when the first spate of rain hit just before dawn. Still feel a little loggy but it’s passing off. I hope. Coffee. Bright the day, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}

  4. Good morning, 60 and cloudy in Bellingham. I don’t have anything I need to do today so I’ll see what happens. Our quiet summer has given us time to do some house and garden projects and nap when we feel like doing so. In a way it’s been good for both of us. We’re not used to having time to just be.

    Best wishes to all.
