Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: October 16th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. It’s 60 heading for 82 and overcast at the moment. I hope it gets over that. Yesterday we generated 7.7 KWHs and the m-t-d at 175 is at least more than the 2.5K system did in 2014.

    I’m not sure exactly when my friend will get here – we’re doing coffee then shopping – so I’d best get over to twitter. I did check the laptop again this morning. The battery’s holding well. It was 99% when my son brought it back from his house Thursday afternoon and it was 81% when I got on a bit ago. It finally dawned on me around 2 am that the laptop is touchscreen. So a lot easier than jacking around with the mouse pad. It’s Windows 7 and very slow compared to the desktop, of course. But I could go to twitter and look at my messages, respond to a message, and look up something on the internet. The pop-up box saying One Drive isn’t logged in comes up, but I can just close it and continue. Anyway, I have backup and portability. I do need to get Microsoft on it though. So. Off to twitter. Bright the day, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}

    • Most Windows 7 computers can be upgraded to Windows 10 at no extra charge and in-place. However, if it is working okay you might not want to fiddle with it. It would definitely change hardware drivers which could turn it into a brick.

    • Actually, bfitz, if the Rethugs win the mid-terms, they’re going to take your laptop and investigate the hell out of it. Goddess forbid they should do the job they were elected to do!

  2. Saturday Meese. Late posting cause Geek Squad has had control of my computer for a few hours dealing with a possible hack. :(

  3. Good morning, 44 and foggy but yesterday’s rain has washed the air clean again, yay! I slept for hours last night and don’t quite know what to do with the resulting feeling of energy. I may do a few shopping errands but a project in my sewing room is tempting me too so I’ll see what happens. Best wishes to all.
