Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: January 1st 2023

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. Good morning. I did not stay up to see the chaos last night, there will be plenty more to come. Watching the news, eating breakfast. And international news is just as bad as ours. we might get rain this afternoon, I wish some of what flooded California had stayed in the clouds to fall here — better for them and for us. Today’s agenda: groceries, a walk, maybe some cooking.

  2. It’s 50 going to 55 and overcast. We got just over 5 KWHs yesterday and a hair under 36 for the m-t-d – almost on track. We’ll lose ground today but with the days growing longer and a lot of month left to go, we may catch back up again.

    All the holiday stuff is now put up. Yuletide is officially over for another year. I note McCarthy celebrated it by selling the last piece of his soul. Won’t do him any good. The ones he’s made deals with gave him their votes to become speaker, but they won’t give him anything else. He’ll have to do their bidding to get their votes every single time. He gave away any ability he might have had to have an agenda of his own. But he probably won’t care. He may not like the methods the extremists use, but he’s in agreement with their goals. Shut down government/destroy representative government. Let us hope, fervently, they fight over method while Biden finds a workaround to keep things going. And that they get booted out soon.

    Off to twitter. Friends are still there to check on. Artisans are still there needing sales. Desperate people are still there needing fundraiser boosts. And my hands are still stiff/slow doing that boosting. Bright the day, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}
