Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: May 21st

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  2. Good Saturday morning, Meese. How very odd: I tried to get here on my Mac, but couldn’t get anything to accept my clicks, so I came over here to the Lenovo. Was greeted by the usual “Howdy, Diana in NoVa,” so obviously it isn’t the site. Perhaps I should shut down the Mac and see what that does.

    It’s 63 delightful degrees Fahrenheit, going up to 77 F. Never have I felt less like attending karate class. Not only am I slow and clumsy, I just can’t seem to “get” it. I hate to let Roger down, though, he started this Saturday class just for me.

    Bought a tree in my sister’s memory yesterday. I wish I could get started on the blog I want to write for her but so far there hasn’t been time.

    Let me ask you something: I’d like to collect my essays and family reminisces into one volume for Carol’s birthday, and have BookBaby publish it as a paperback (she seems to prefer the printed page to the Kindle page). She would be the only one interested in such a family memoir. The boys couldn’t care less, and of course the grandchildren are children and completely engaged in growing up. So, should I do it? I can’t imagine that anyone outside M’Daughter would be interested in such family memoirs, so there would be only one copy.

    Have been trying to think what to give her for her birthday (same day as that of our Sister Denise) and simply can’t think of anything. She has all the devices, diamonds, and dogs a person could possibly want, but she is extremely interested in her birth mother and would like a book such as this.

    Well, I’d better watch a karate video or two and then get ready to go. Groan! I didn’t have a good night so I just want to REST

    Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.

    • {{{Diana}}} The book would be a very worthwhile thing to do as well as a very wonderful present. It of course will take a lot of time and energy to do. But once it’s done the information is there – even if she’s the only one of this generation to want it, that doesn’t mean future generations won’t be delighted to find it. As to the karate, never mind what Americans think karate is for, start working on what the Japanese created it for. It’s not just a physical thing. Healing Energy & moar {{{HUGS}}}

  3. It’s 61 heading for 81 and sunny. I know it won’t happen, it won’t be that sunny, but my PV system is perfectly capable of generating 25 KWHs in a day this time of year. Be nice. 😁 Yesterday we generated 19.4 KWHs and the m-t-d made it to 399.7 – not quite on track for 480 but getting close.

    I got almost 7 hours of sleep last night and had pleasant dreams to boot. Very unusual but nice. Went and got milk this morning. Of course I was the only one masked in the store – but I was also the only customer in the store and it was early enough there were only 2 employees there. I’ve got to air up the tires this afternoon. Tomorrow is housecleaning and I don’t need to add any extra stooping and bending to that. Still trying to ignore the news. I’ll deal with what happens when it happens.

    Off to do my boosting chores. Holding the Good Thoughts for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

  4. Good morning, 61 and mostly sunny outside my window today. Elsa is indeed a busy puppy, and I think she is missing her guy because she hasn’t “settled” in. She is laying beside me now, chewing on a bone, but we had a restless night. She moved between her bed on the floor, the chair by the window, my bed, got stuck under the bed, and then as I was drifting back to sleep climbed over the gate across the door and was off to explore the very dark house. Our son comes back today, yay! Best wishes to all.

  5. Good morning, meeses! Saturday …

    It is 77 degrees in Tucson with an expected daytime high of 91. Sunny skies are in the forecast. I got up late and have errands to run so this is just a quick check-in – I will read everyone’s brilliant comments later when I am sitting and reading my newspapers.

    It sounds like Janet Yellen checked under the couch cushions and in old trouser pockets for spare change and is now saying that we will likely not default until June 5th. I hope Republicans don’t take that as a reason to delay – we need the debt limit increased now.

    See all y’all later!
