Good morning. Watching the news while my tea steeps. Today’s agenda: church and cooking. But I don’t even have to finish my cooking, because there’s also tomorrow. The Science Channel is playing a bunch of astronomy today, so yay that.
Black Music Sunday
It’s 70 heading for 85. It was sunny earlier but it got over it. Hopefully the sun will come back. We generated 12 KWHs yesterday and the m-t-d is 25.5 – not on track but at least more than I use in a day without A/C.
I’ve done all my Sunday housework. My hands are shaking but at least I can type. They’ll settle down to not particularly noticeable shortly. Amelia’s tired but getting stuff done, slowly, so that’s good. Everybody else is pretty much hanging on. Healing Energy to everyone. In whatever form the Healing is needed.

Good morning, 65 and mostly cloudy outside my window today. RonK has cleaned the pollen, moss and lichen from the canvas on the barbeque canopy and I’ve cleaned up the mess he made doing so :) He had the harder part of the deal, but it’s all cleaned up now and looks much better. I wanted to make a few changes to how the patios are set up, but it’s just to hard to do now. My busy mind can see how function can be improved but my aging body just can’t do the work involved. So we’ll maintain as best we can and be grateful for what we’ve got. I want to replace a few spent flowering plants today, then we’ll cook an end of the summer dinner and watch episode three of House of Dragon. Best wishes to all.

It’s cloudy and 89 F. here in Ashbuggy, but it’s not going to rain. We’re already two inches under for rainfall for the year.
In what turned out to be a completely misguided attempt to recapture an enjoyable experience from the Before Times (taking the kids to Virginia Kitchen for Sunday breakfast), we picked up little Karl and took him out. He was quite silent for the drive to the place but later become more communicative. Nora went to her friend’s house yesterday to spend Saturday and Sunday. Neither Younger Son nor Nora herself bothered to inform me of this, even though I made the arrangements with Younger Son some days ago.
Well, that certainly influences my thinking from here on out.
In other news, Dearly has watched F1, also Tottenham vs. Someone or Other, and is now watching Man. U against Arsenal. I have been struggling and cursing Microsoft Word and almost–-but not quite—-wishing I hadn’t switched. I can’t retrieve docs I thought I’d filed! So now I’m struggling with Apple Pages, converting the docs to .docx and sending them off to the editors.
This is too boring to read, so I’ll shuddup. Hope everyone else is enjoying this September Sunday!
Monday Meese. It is raining here – yay! Started yesterday evening and hasn’t stopped. Fingers crossed that it will continue for the next few days, which should help our depleted reservoir, squash the last wildfire, and help my poor garden.

Good Monday morning, Moosekind. Woke up feeling cross because I have a less than optimal day planned.
Today it’s 71 F. and overcast here in Ashbuggy. Ahead: a dreary morning of finishing an article. This afternoon: filling out forms and driving around to see where my doctor’s appointment is going to be tomorrow. Y’know, Barbara Ehrenreich said to hell with getting mammograms after she reached a certain age, just didn’t want to be bothered. Then she got breast cancer and died. Guess I’d better not refuse to go tomorrow.
So that’s my little lot for today. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.
I did not know that about Barbara Ehrenreich (the refusing to get mammograms thing)! My last PCP let me do them every other year, my current one wants them annually. I really do think that every other year is fine (there is no history of breast cancer in my family) but I may rethink that. My last mammogram was done last month and the tech was gentle and caring, quite unlike my previous experiences. There is no reason to brutalize a person; I had one so bad five years ago that I almost passed out.
OMG, Jan! I’ve seen what happens when breast cancer is treated. My friend had it. I wouldn’t wish that on a DOG! You get mutilated, burned, and poisoned. It’s too awful to describe what my friend went through.
Good morning. Slept in (once I got to sleep), watching the news while I eat breakfast. It’s cool enough that I have the windows open to let the cooking smells out from yesterday. I made probably 3 weeks worth of lunch (sweet potatoes, black beans, cilantro, cauliflower, rice, avocado, lime juice). Today: clean house, watch some more astronomy tv.

It is 73 degrees in Tucson with an expected daytime high of 99. Sunny skies are in the forecast – no chance of rain. We will be stuck in a 100s adjacent heat wave for about 4 days until the next monsoonal moisture is expected on Friday which will cool things down for a couple of days.
I stayed away from the news this weekend. I got caught up in a personal project that was very time consuming (I hope to finish it this morning) and sunk a lot of time into trying to resolve an issue on a customer’s Windows 11 computer. They upgraded without telling (Microsoft pushed it to them and they said “Sure, let me upgrade my computer to a new operating system I know nothing about and not tell the network administrator! What could go wrong?”) Well, how about it popping up every hour or so with a message about restarting your computer? The good news is that it is not actually restarting the computer just popping up the message, the bad news is that the problem is both known and seemingly intractable. The only two options are to rebuild the operating system or to live with it in the hopes that the problem goes away with a future update of either the operating system or the end-user’s installed software. Time to get back to work.

It’s 70 heading for 83 and trying to be sunny. For a while. Widget says possible rain this afternoon which means for certain clouds during peak production hours. We generated 11.5 KWHs yesterday and the m-t-d at 37 is not on track and losing ground even for 360.
Got sleep but late into the morning so I’m both groggy and running behind my usual time. But as the days get shorter that will become usual anyway. One of the blessings of retirement – I rise with the sun. As of last night everybody was at least hanging on and Amelia’s getting (slowly) better. & Dee’s rain and another’s being able to have the windows open is definitely good news. Healing Energy to everyone.

Good morning, 60 and sunny outside my window today. RonK worked with me yesterday so the garden beds around the patios are looking much better. He cleaned up the broken plants left from the plumbers work so now we will make a to the cleanout pipe path so they will have easier access. Looks like it’s time to schedule maintenance cleanouts instead for waiting for an emergency. It’s somewhat costly and there is always the risk of a broken pipe but oh well.
I’m don’t know what I want to do today, work outside or do a few errands. I’m really tired so resting this morning and doing something easy this afternoon is prolly the best decision. Best wishes to all.
Back to work, at least it’s wfh & I can watch astronomy tv. Got word that my review of the Mercenary Librarians trilogy will be tomorrow’s Bookchat at the orange place, so please come by if you can: Wednesday at 7 central time.
It’s 65 heading for 87 and sunny at the moment. I hope it will last. We only got 5.8 KWHs yesterday. No rain, of course. Just clouds. The m-t-d is 42.79 – definitely not on track for even 300, much less 400. But it’s early days yet.
I think I got more sleep last night but I sure can’t tell by brain function. I’m groggy and zoning out as I try to put coherent sentences together. Oh well. Maybe the oatmeal will help. There’s a big fundraising push to help the Jewish community of Las Vegas, NM get their historic synagogue back from the RC church (RCs bought it pennies on the dollar in 1950, Jewish community have been trying to buy it back since 1990 – RC church finally named an exorbitant price of which $200K is cash down/closing and gave them 30 days, of which 9 are left, to come up with it) folks have set aside their own ills and needs to at least boost it, otherwise they’re hanging on. If the US gave a damn about Puerto Rico conditions on the island would have gotten significantly better in the five years since Maria. Instead there has been rule by Junta, LUMA fail, gentrification and displacement, health care system disaster, schools closed, unions screwed, and elite rule by a not-progressive party.
Good morning, Meese, on the day that used to be known as “Terrible Traffic Tuesday.” This was always the day after Labor Day, when people returned from the beach and children returned to school. Nowadays children go back to school in stinkin’-hot August, and parents work from home.
We had a lovely time at Elder Son’s house yesterday. He prepared delicious baked ziti, which seemed just right for a rainy September evening. With a green salad and garlic toast, it was perfect. There was fruit to follow. I learned that my little grandson walks to school with his mother and several other neighborhood children and mothers. Isn’t it nice to think of something as old-fashioned as walking to school? Ashlawn Elementary in Arlington is very highly rated.
Elder Son’s house is a little 1940s brick colonial, a bare three miles over the bridge from DC. It has been much improved but is still rather small by modern standards.
We awoke to the delightful sound of steady rain beating against the windowpane. Even the weather weirdos on telly admitted that we need the rain. It’s stopped for the moment, which is good. I have to get ready to drive to the wretched radiology place. I loathe all doctors. They’re so nosy. My dentists, on the other hand, are a jolly crew with ceilings full of colorful paintings of places I long to visit.
Meantime, back at the ranch, I have a busy day ahead, filling out forms, reading the essays my writers have turned in, and getting ready for tomorrow’s legacy writing group. Current temp. is 70 F., with a cloudy sky. The high today will be 85 F. with more showers. Good. We’re more than two inches under the normal rainfall for the year in squat, ugly Ashburn.

Good morning, meeses! Tuesday which feels exactly like a Tuesday …
It is 75 degrees in Tucson with an expected daytime high of 99. Sunny skies are in the forecast. We are back to a “dry heat” as the monsoonal moisture is absent but it is still hotter than Hades.
tRump’s takeover of the federal courts paid off as one of his federal judges blocked the FBI investigation into his theft of top secret documents by bowing to his demand for a Special Master. Legal experts where stunned at her failure to understand the laws she was ruling on and the mind-numbing ignorance exposed in her brief. It was no surprise for people who were following the confirmations of political hacks whose only qualification was membership in the Federalist Society to lifetime seats on the federal judiciary. Many of them were rated unqualified but that did not stop the Republicans! I understand that the Justice Department can appeal her ruling but the Circuit Court hearing the appeal is over 50% trumpers so the likelihood of her ruling being overturned is slim. I wonder if she got death threats from MAGAts and decided to save herself rather than apply the law? She should resign and let Joe Biden appoint someone who did not get their law degree out of a Cracker Jack box.
I still have a full platter of work that is waiting for me. I feel like my semi-retirement was put on hold after the move because my added part-time job is organizing my new company, closing my old company, and managing the thousands of little details that come from changing states versus just changing an address. I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel but in the meantime I am finding it exhausting. I am really glad I made this move while I am relatively young and fairly healthy. This would not have been possible if I weren’t both.

It is 72 degrees in Tucson with an expected daytime high of 99. Sunny skies are in the forecast. Later this evening the "Thursday Cooldown" will begin to move in and there will be a chance of rain. Morning lows under 70 are in the not too distant future!!
Massachusetts will test the limits of trumpism when it is applied to a deep blue state. Yes, there are plenty of MAGAt Republicans there (they chose a MAGAt in the primary, after all) but will the “mainstream” Republicans join with them to continue the tradition of Republican governors serving as a so-called check on the Democratic legislature? Goddess help us if they do.
Putting top secret nuclear information into the hands of an ignoramus? No one – no one – should be surprised that the documents would be sitting in a stack of papers next to Big Mac wrappers and empty Diet Coke cans. I hope there is some sanity left in the appeals courts to block the trump judge who has put the FBI investigation on hold. And I hope the nuclear information that leaked out is Israel’s – after their full-throated embrace of tRump and trumpism, despite the clear evidence that trumpism is anti-Semitic, they deserve to sweat.
I woke up early after hearing my daughter call out to me – it was in a dream but then I could not fall back asleep so I am now up and working. The window to my office is open – it is cool and comfortable with the humidity returning to Tucson norms.
