Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: June 11th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. Good morning, 58 and cloudy outside my window, looking forward to our neighbors party later today. I had second thoughts re making receiving blankets and will buy a classic children’s book instead. Best wishes to all.

  2. Good afternoon, Meese. It’s 79 F. here in Ashburn but you’d never know it, with the wind blowing at 25 mph.

Karl is here for a sleepover. We just arranged the porch furniture and it looks quite nice, with the cushions and the plants set in place. Or it would, if the lousy wind didn’t keep blowing the cushions off the furniture.

Anyway, Karl also polished the egg spoons, which have a distressing tendency to tarnish, and Grandma’s pentacle earrings. He had his favorite lunch, baby pizzas, with WildBerry Yogurt Drink. Now he’s playing quietly on his iPad, which is great, because Grandpa wants a nap. Karl’s Dad is home preparing the ingredients for a sushi party. Nora and her mother are on their way to West Virginia, where they will spend a week painting and patching up houses for the disadvantaged. Nora’s phone will be taken away for the duration, and that’s all to the good.

As for me, I’m so whacked out I had to skip karate this morning. I still have to clean the bathrooms, but I have a Drama Club meeting at 2. Dearly says I’ve been doing too much and I think he’s right.

Princesspat, I totally applaud your change of plan re the receiving blankets and the children’s book. Karl is reading his way through a book about a tribe of warrior cats.

I put up a very silly diary yesterday that garnered lots of comments. Will see whether I can find the link.
