Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: Aug. 19th through Aug. 25th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (every Sunday morning). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will now split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page and use the link.

  1. Summer’s back – 74 with 92% humidity going to 90 (heat index in the triple digits) and overnight lows in the mid 70s – which at least has the virtue of being normal. Whatever that is. (Tricia used to say “normal’s just a setting on the washing machine.”) Got 16.2 KWHs yesterday which pushed my m-t-d to 329. Also had a nice twitter convo with someone in Melbourne Australia who just installed a 6K system and discovered just how much energy my 5K system is NOT generating but should be. Seems I was “man ‘splained” to even more than I thought I was by the system installer. Instead of flat on my low-pitched roof, my system should be on “tilt-racks” for the optimum angle and best production. I’d be generating at least half again as much electricity if the system were at the proper angle. Not that I need it now but if I ever go all electric I most certainly will. Retrofitting PV systems is not usually “cost effective” so…but I may still look into it.

    The flood of political news is overwhelming if one tries to keep up with it all. But then it has been since October 2016. So I mostly don’t try. Keep it in categories for my own sanity. At least now I can RT stuff – DoReMI was right, it was the Edge app thing and nothing to do with Twitter itself. Now if we (as in basket 😁🤗 ) can just figure out and stop the random locking up… Meanwhile I need coffee. Healing Energy to everybody everywhere shaped to the need. Bright the day, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}

  2. Good morning, 60 and light rain in Bellingham. It’s nice to smell wet rainy air! Some of the family just left for a hike and others are sleeping in so I’m enjoying the quit and catching my breath! Last night’s patio dinner was fun but I’m weary.

    Best Saturday wishes to all.
