Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: September 25th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. Good Saturday morning, Meese! It’s 54 F., cold, and rainy in Ashburn this morning. Good. We need the rain because we’re now three inches under normal for the year to date.

    There’s not a whole lot of good news in our little corner of Northern Virginia. We took a happy, healthy dog to the vet for his annual teeth cleaning and got back a zombie. He eats, sleeps, and poops, but that’s all. Dearly’s doctor from Kaiser called the other day and told him he has “a touch” of leukemia. He’s going in for a CAT scan next week. Apple told me to resubscribe to my iCloud storage, then rejected my password three times, although I typed it very painstakingly. Then my iPhone told that my Facebark sign-in, password, and even my phone number were compromised in a data leak and to change them El Fasto. Facebook didn’t say anything about it, so I’m just ignoring it for now.

    Woke up far too early this morning but I know I’ll crash right after lunch. The first thing I have to is to change spent black cartridge in my printer. Other than that, chores, chores, chores!

    Wishing all at the Pond a good day.

  2. It’s 58 heading for 80 and sunny. We wrapped up September with exactly 300 KWHs. What’s not good for September would be great for October. I’ll be perfectly happy if we get 260 for the month.

    Been out shopping this morning. Nobody but me was masked. The clerks don’t even put on masks when they see me coming any longer. Seems this was a lousy year for green beans. I’m having trouble finding them in the freezer section and when I do they’re over $2 a lb. And I can’t find 1-lb packages – what’s there is all 12-oz steamer packs. So I guess I’ll eat canned green beans for a while. And blessed to have the choice.

    Charlie’s been having GI problems with the Iams so I tried to get a bag of Taste of the Wild this morning. Nope. Out of stock. So I got another high-meat-protein food. He ate 3 bites, gave me a dirty look, and went to Rennie’s dish to eat more Iams. sigh. Cats.

    I haven’t checked in with anyone yet today but they were all pretty much same ol’ same ol’ last night. Holding the Good Thoughts, sending Healing Energy to everyone, whatever issue or species.

    Off to twitter. Bright the day, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}

  3. Good morning, 53 and foggy in my garden today. I was determined to finish the last of the ironing yesterday but I didn’t quite make it so I just moved the stack and now have technically emptied all of the baskets, lol! I’ll finish today, feels good to have that chore done. I’m listening to Kate Wolf sing and haven’t read the news yet so it’s a nice quiet morning for me. Best wishes to all.
