Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: July 2nd

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. Good late Saturday morning, Meese! Guess who is staying with us! With DIL and Nora off in Japan (they finally Got On), and Younger Son working in the sushi restaurant Friday and Saturday nights, Karl and the puppy would have been all alone in the house. Can’t have that!

It’s a gorgeous morning here in Ashburn, 79 F. going up to hellish. The screened porch looks so nice. Karl is out there with his iPad. We’re going to take Chase for a walk as soon as I’ve cleaned up a bit.

Back at the ranch, Dearly fell in love with Chase five minutes after he arrived, even asked him if he had a brother. He had, actually, but someone has taken him already. NOT that yrs truly would have allowed that! Puppies are cute but Boxers grow up to be big dogs. We have to watch Chase all the time to keep him from chewing the tubing that runs from the oxygen concentrator to Dearly’s position on the sofa.

However, I told Younger Son that we would be Chase’s grandparents and keep him here while the family are in the U.K. next month. Chase seems to like us. He slept in one of Monty’s beds beside my bed last night. Anyway, he’s fun to have around at this point. He’s mauling the little stuffed toy beagle we bought to make ourselves feel better. I don’t care, though, whatever keeps him quiet!

There are places around here that are in deep shadow until noon, so that’s where we’ll walk. We’ve had lots of showers, even after we all went to bed last night. More on the way. We may need an ark this afternoon.

Met with the two Drama Club board members yesterday. L. was worrying herself sick that there were too many characters in the play. I told her I’d killed off three of them and will kill off two more. That should make her feel better. Anyway, she suggested a couple of things, which I will incorporate. L., I should add, knows a lot more about stage management than I. I like her very much and she would be PERFECT in the part of the Executive Director. She has an impeccable sense of timing, for one thing.

We did draw some attention as we sat in the area near the elevators and read the various characters’ parts of the play aloud. LOL!

Yikes, I must get a move on. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!

  2. Good morning, 61 and mostly sunny. My friend’s husband is home now so my dog care duties are done for now. If all goes as planned my friend will be returning to Bellingham today, but that may change. She has had a very hard week so I hope today is easy for her.
I’m tending to my throbbing implant site today…..pain meds and rest, boring but effective. I’m reading book #14 in Chronicles of St Mary’s series this morning, and hope to plant a few inpatients this afternoon. Best wishes to all.
